Exactly. It is not as if there are a bunch of software engineers/IT people sitting at Kalmbach writing code to implement features. The inference of many complaints is that there are idiots at Kalmbach that don't listen/care and are somehow deliberately leaving out features either through malice or incompetence.
The old forum software was off the peg as well.
This is where the utter lack of communication has hurt the most. A simple explanation as to why the old forum software had to go, and how this was the best fit of the available options would have gone a long way to head off the whining.
Any change of this nature was not going to have the exact same features as the predecessor, especially if it is from a different vendor.

The search function has a date range, so if you are looking for a particular term you can narrow that search by date. (As an aside, the search feature of the new forum is way superior than the old)
If you want to read everything on the entire forum back to a certain date, then it is all there. It is the forum, just page back until you hit the date you want?
This seems a bit obvious, so I probably don't understand what you are shouting about?
Your own? If you click "Your Discussions" (located in the right column and under your profile name), you can see all the threads you've responded to. If you are just looking for all threads between 6/1/2012 and today, you'll have to scroll through the titles using your mouse and the page buttons at the bottom of each MR forum page.
FWIW: Is there any chance that you can release the caps lock on your keypad? Using ALL CAPS is 1) considering shouting according to forum etiquette, and 2) difficult to read. Thanks.

No wonder Telligent left the INtellegent part out of designing a forum or any other piece of software. Where is the part where the Programmers come down and talk to the user about the applications and the user's use of the application.
It is the same with SAP, it is great for factory operations but its Accounting functions are terrible, have to download every report to Excel in order to make it usable.

I can't seel any posted videos. I am using the Photos page form last weekend as a default. laz's videso do not appear; just a tiny icon that doe nothing when clicked.
It seems to take 2 clicks on the back button to do that. ALL the time............

Folks,
let´s be fair!
Kalmbach offers this forum as a platform to exchange views and opinions, to gather information and useful hints free of charge, so it´s their choice of software. The software change was bound to come, not only to allow a better handling on all those portable devices.
I don´t think there are changes in the new forum look we won´t be able to cope with. Yes, there are some bugs in it, but they are working on it to get them out.

My Google Reader still receives forum posts, but when I click on them I am no longer taken to the right post. I search through your site did not show any way to re-subscribe to a feed or modify them. The only RSS I came across was for blogs.

I see the window for the Users online is cut off, or is that because I’m using IE 7?
Sometimes upgrading to meet the capabilities of new operating systems or equipment like smart phones leaves some of us out in the cold if that is what this last upgrade was designed to do. I’m having this issue at home with my TV; all the local stations switched to HD so now when the weather man on the 6 0’clock news points to the weather map his hand is off screen on my outdated 8 year old 32” TV.
I like what Train Modeler had to say, but I would expand on it a little. I would like to see a better profile section. Members interest, scale, Era, and if they have a specialty in the hobby that they feel they are really good at. And maybe a note if they are open to people asking for advice in their specialty. Our local NMRA division has this type of data base and it’s nice when you get stuck in the middle of a new project to have someone you can call that is willing to mentor you through a problem.
Riogrande5761, it could be worse, the company I work for was very excited to upgrade from XP to Vista recently. MS gave them an “exceptional bargain” to switch.
