Teens getting made fun of...

  • That ticks me off. Im 14 almost 15 and ive been made fun of because im a RAILFAN. But shake it off and get back to your modeling. Them peoples just makin funn of you because there jealous thats all it amounts to. But keep up the great work and enjoy trains. There is plenty of teen railfans out there wanting some friends to. So just enjoy trains and dont let them punks get in your brain.Thumbs Up [tup]

  • As stated; teasing goes with the age.

It's the training you recieve to know yourself and how to deal  with all types of charachters when you are out supporting yourself.

No one is respected for everything they do it's how you learn to be true to yourself that gives you the self-respect it takes to gain respect..

Is it modeling RR or is it creativity, planning, organization, setting priorities, executing your plan, being able to adjust, learning new skills, making mistakes and learning that's OK if you correct them?

Could you do diaroma?  Model a scene w/ a train that's familar to the students.

  • Honestly, I'm 14 and have never been made fun of. I have told many about my hobby and all my friends that come over think my layout is really neat and are always disappointed when I don't run the trains because I've got a huge ballasting project going on. I did a speech in my speech class about model trains and the whole class had tons of questions and was intrigued. I hope you see that this hobby really isn't nerdy and there are many people that would find it interesting

  • I am 17 and a junior in high school i never really talk about trains that much school, my friends know I like trains and have no problem with it in fact one of them is turning into a railfan. I have been made fun a couple times but that was a few years ago.

  • In school I was never made fun of for being a MRR.....I was taunted  for being a "SpEd"..... I was called a "car dork" in high school (because I like Volkswagens), and in middle school I was "lego kid" (guess why....)

None of that was fun, but to this day, I am astounded that no one ever picked on me due to trains...

What do you call a freight train full of bubble gum? A chew chew train! :] T.R. quote: "A man who has never gone to school may steal from a freight car; but if he has a university education, he may steal the whole railroad." visit: http://s149.photobucket.com/albums/s74/bighead98565/
  • iam 13 8th grader and i realized people make fun of other people because they are not good at.
  • Look out, because certain sleazy ADULTS who are into snap-judgment psychology will take your teen age interest in railroad modeling, claim you are obsessed with trains, and call you autistic.

If you are not into sex, alcohol, and fast autos you might get labeled as mentally disabled by the sleazy psychologists. As we know all the normal teen have better things to do than play with their trains and talk about trains.

Railroads are real big time businesses and not fantasies from a troubled teen imagination.

    Sez ye.

Railroads were a good pasttime in my teen years. Yes I had the sex, the girls and the usual troubles and took on a few bullies in my time. But there was always time for trains.

As for the shrinks, they can draw thier own conclusions. I came out of that time in good shape, not like a few peers who cannot get out of the bottle, drugs or other trouble.

If those shrinks were any good at thier work they will recognize autistic behavior as such, not necessarily anything to do with anything. People who fight handicaps are very special people. Especially when they live thier lives very well despite thier limitations (Or perhaps a refusal to submit and quit living)

Yes railroads are big time business, but ever wonder that they might be BUILT to meet a BIGGER Business's Industrial needs?

What in the Flying Karamotzov Brothers is this supposed to mean...??????

       Have fun with your trains

  • These haughty academics consider anything "trains" to be irrelevant and not the way the real world works. If a teenager is reading and talking about "trains" for any reason, they have now become disconnected from society while in school.

Sorry, psychologists, but that stereotype of the wild teen lifestyle does not get the work done in the real world. People have to be responsible and learn about business.

  • Well I have no problem with broadcasting it. Most people at my school think that it is pretty cool that I like trains and model trains. To me if people at my school make fun of me I just tell them so who cares what you think. Then they might get mad and say a few words but they usually leave. Heck there are a few girls that think that my interest in trains is REALLY cool. So if they make fun of you you should just say so its better than whatever you do.
