Lionel for 8 Year Old

Any thoughts or input on giving my 8 year old his first O Gauge Lionel Train Set. For the most part he his responsible and takes care of his other toys. Thank You!

From your description of your child's responsible behavior toward his toys, I definitely think that he is mature enough for a starter set.  Happy railroading.  Have fun.

My 2 1/2 year old grandson has the lionel dinosaur train. He uses the remote well. He has not fully mastered getting things back on the track, but gets the idea and tries. The cars with 4 wheels in this set are helpful.
