  • Well, Lionel has sort of become a legend, and I'm sure everyone would buy one if they had the cash. In the meantime, why not start in HO, which has become, in a way, today's Lionel?
  • HOW MANY THING DOES "HO" HAVE THAT RUN, LIKE A SAW MILL OR LOG LOADER OR COAL LOADER??????????,MAYBE A MILK CAR THA OFF LOADS CANS OF MILK, APASSENGER CAR THAT ANSWERS THE CONDUCTOR?????????/
  • I guess you made a point....But the Lionel Thomas the Tank Engine set at Toys R Us is the only one I can readily afford. However, there are several sets by Bachmann that cost even less. The size of "O" gauge is superior for the animation and sound, though.
  • Vincent,

Tough call. In my opinion, concentrating on the accessories you enumerate sends people into the toy train arena. I am looking to get my son involved in model trains. I consider this to be a different pursuit. I believe that kids who appreciate toy trains can become model railroaders, but it is better to proceed on the model train course from the beginning. Just my opinion - Ed
