Insturctions for posting pic on the forum

  • Instruction for Posting Pictures on the forum.

First you need a Digital Camera or Digital picture.

Second you need a Host on the internet to upload your pictures to. If you don’t have one, my I suggest Shutterfly at www.shutterfly.com

They do not charge for hosting your pics, they hope you will someday order print, calendars, mouse pads, or mugs with our pics on them.

OK so now you have your pictures uploaded to your host, we can start on how to post on the forum.

Open your host site up, and it should look something like this. I am using mine at Shutterfly.

click on the pic to enlarge it
Pick you album and open it.

click on the pic to enlarge it
One click on the picture you want and enlarge it.

click on the pic to enlarge it
Place your mouse over the picture and RIGHT click on it.

click on the pic to enlarge it
You will see a list come up and click on the last one Properties.
    For Mac users ONLY

to find "properties" and "URL" via Mac on Shutterfly. Just hold "control" and click on the image, then choose "open in new window" and copy the URL that shows up. Big Smile [:D]

click on the pic to enlarge it
This brings up a list of properties and what you need is the Address (URL). You can either retype this or highlight it and right click and copy it.

click on the pic to enlarge it

click on the pic to enlarge it
    hope this helps.

PS. If you wi***o add your picture to your signature line, then try this

There are two ways to do it. I check and see that you are using Comcast for your photo host, therefore you will need to re-size your pic before up loading it to about 48 x 48 pixels. Your photo editor should have a re-size command in it.

If you are using Shutterfly as your host you can just get the URL address of the thumb nail pic on your album.

In your profile, on the signature line area, add it just like posting on the forum, using the IMG command.

The avatar is not active on the forum software.

  • I'm on a Mac, and am having a devil of a time posting photos. (I'm not new to posting photos on this forum, but the new forum code is royally screwing with what I type in. See the following:

    <a href="http://www.trains.com/trccs/forums/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=853175" target="_blank" title="http://www.trains.com/trccs/forums/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=853175">http://www.trains.com/trccs/forums/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=853175</a>

Great, I can't even post links!!! AARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!! That was typed as [ url]http://www.trains.com/trccs/forums/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=853175[ /url] without the spaces.

I'm more than just a bit frustrated at this. I've tried two different Macs, on Safari and IE on both of them with identical results. Posting from the PC works just dandy.

Any thoughts? I'm sending a note to the IT guys at Kalmbach, too, to see what their thoughts are.

    Later,

    K

Sorry to say, but Yahoo does not allow photo sharing. [:(] You will have to try a different photo host. [;)]

  • I'm going to try this again.

  • Thank you, spankybird, noted and logged.

I haven't "gone digital" yet, but I usually get my photos put on disc for editing and transcription.

My friend's computer has "Canon Photo Shop" on it. So easy for cropping, adding borders, etc., that evan a Dummy Like Me can use it!

  • Shutterfly desplays them at a max of 480 pixels width. The forum will display them at 350 pixels width until you click on it, then is show at 480 pixels. Full screen is about 640 pixels.

    here is an example

  • I have my pics on Shutterfly now. Is there any way to make the pics smaller so when I put the pic on the forum here it's not way bigger than the screen?
