  • I guess I'd go with the SD9, GP30, or B30-7. SD9, because they were my favorite Chessie locomotive. GP30, because of it's unique roof. And B30-7, because it's my favorite locomotive I commonly watch.
The question of what CSX stands for comes up frequently on these forums, so here you go. C=Chessie S=Seaboard, X=Many More/The RR's that Chessie and Seaboard were comprised of (L&N, C&O, SCL, etc)

too right. and unfortunately, UP doesnt get it. because i dont get ANYTHING new up here. nothing but those zombies. if i got new stuff instead, do you REALLY think i would still be whining? i would be able to finally forget about CNW and move on to the modern diesel era! but UP wont send me ANYTHING except for zombies. THAT'S the problem! that and the morons who actually expect me to ENJOY them.

Oh, let me call the waaaaa-mbulance.

    lol classic.

  • i'll shut up when everyone quits telling me to ENJOY those things. stop calling them cool and stop calling me lucky!

    *heavy sigh*

    so....how 'bout those GEVOs, eh?

no no. i'll honestly answer you, WCL. the SD60 cant go wrong for my favorite. bear in mind just the SD60. nothing else from the EMD 60 series diesels. GP60s are nice, but i despise the SD60F and SD60M. but nothing beats the SD60 for me. it looks good in even UP paint! i was ecstatic when i saw UP 2201 on a train in Altoona!

    Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.

  • Good to get this train back on the rails.

  • we just gotta hope it's not CSX rails or this may not last long :P

  • LOL!

    That is funny my friend.

  • 'Rolls eyes' enough with the CSX jokes, they could be Penn Central!

  • wasnt that, like, the first CSX joke i cracked since you joined?

live a little, my friend! it's funny! and CSX kinda is PC in a way

  • Jesus Atmo, seriously....

"paint determines the reporting mark, not the owner!"

Nice logic there too, I didnt know somebody made you boss of how railroads identified themselves.

I dont know how many more times your going to have to be told how good you have it. Those Chessie units should really prove my point. "Zombies" as you call it are living history, especially the patched ones. I havent gotten a chance to see any patched CNW SD40-2s yet, only a C40-8 and a few patched C44-9Ws. Paint should mean nothing, and CNW SD40-2s (besides the bell) sound no different than any other SD40-2. With you wanting the old stuff gone all the time, its not helping the situation of old stuff disapearing everyday that goes un published online. WHEN Mopacs get retired? WHEN? Where'd all the SD50s and SD40-2s go? Leasing companies sure, but the lease market is falling steadily, and at a fast rate. Most all of the old Mopac engines are gone from the roster, only leaving a handful of Geeps.

I am sick of the constant complaining of a situation I would love to be in, seeing trains powered by 3 plus standard cab EMDs. The only trains I get to see with power like that (and its getting much rarer lately) is the WC Transfer that comes in from Stevens Point. That sure made me realise how quickly things change the second you ignore them.

Be happy that you see "CNW" everyday, whereas I barely get a glimpse of the WC anymore.

  • Ya, how about those GEVOs which are replacing everything good the CSX has (leasers and tons of SD40-2s of their own), but besides that.....

Atmo, to be dead honest, most railfans dont like seeing the past leave for good. You obviously have different views, which is fine. Just try to stop whishing for change at a snap of your thumb, it goes too fast anywho.

    Alright, enough with that.

  • Well, I went to Eola again today to see some more BNSF trains. Guess what I saw? EJ&E! Boy was I surprized to see two EJ&E SD38-2s and SD38 654 come all the way down to the west end of Eola Yard. I then chased them to the east end of the yard to see them coupling up to a taconite train. The 654 led the train east of the yard and it still is in the old paint scheme. Also saw a BNSFmanifest with a bluebonnet GP7 of all things, and a BNSF GP10 in the yard behind a GP39-2. Very successful day today, probably the most productive day at Eola in a while for me.

Here are two photos of the EJ&E power that payed me a visit at Eola, with none other then 659 in the lead, again! I've seen this engine so many times this year it isn't even funny, but I hope that keeps up! The second photo is of it departing with 654 leading.
