  • "lucky" is hardly the word i would choose to describe this situation. it bothers me to no end. the patches have yellow where yellow doesnt belong. it officially kills and ruins the look of the CNW, and what's worse, i'm forced to call them UP locomotives. even though they CLEARLY dont have armour yellow and harbor mist grey paint, there's no boring red text on the hood, the sill isnt red, and the trucks arent grey either. it doesnt fit the UP requirements. it's more CNW than UP and should be called CNW. paint determines the reporting mark, not the owner!

WP, you ask? check out this one museum out West. they have a LOT of WP power running there. there's also some MKT power running, but no hood units. MoPac got shafted the worst, but CNW means more to me so i dont mention MoPac much either. of course when the ex-MoPac stuff starts getting retired, you might see the fans try to get one donated and repainted to jenks blue somewhere. this WONT be the case for CNW. their stuff is being retired in many places as we speak, yet everyone doesnt notice because they're too busy fanning those ugly trash 9s that barely qualify as true CNWs anyway. THEY dont notice. only me and a handful of truly devoted CNW fans do.

  • Whatever you say Atmo, CNW isn't the only RR that's been (or is being) lost to the history books. Just don't complain about what you have now, no matter how much you dislike it. One day who knows, you might wish you'd watched it more.

The question of what CSX stands for comes up frequently on these forums, so here you go. C=Chessie S=Seaboard, X=Many More/The RR's that Chessie and Seaboard were comprised of (L&N, C&O, SCL, etc)
  • that wont happen. trust me. i'll be glad to see it gone.

i want at the new stuff so i can brag about it when it becomes old stuff

  • Whatever you say man, railfan how you like to. Just remember how many people "hated" Conrail and it's "awful" patch jobs early on and wished it was gone. Then in the Big Blue's final hour, most wished they'd photographed it more.

  • Hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween! I went to BNSF's Eola Yard and made a shocking discovery. BNSF has removed the turntable from the yard! Angry [:(!] All that is left is a newly rock covered circle. I was just there about two weeks ago and the turntable was still there. They sure made quick work dismantling that.

  • Lord Atmo, you feel bad for your almost "mint" condition CNW locos. What about my MILW? Never seen one. Haven't even seen a bandit. Even if I did, theres only a couple spots of pure orange on it. So stop whining.

Agreed, there's no reason to complain about this topic anymore. EJ&E, how'd the trip go otherwise? Down in Grafton, WV, we still have a turntable that CSX uses. It was weird watching them spin an AC4400CW around!

  • Wow. New peoples. I need to stay current with this thing. I'll bet that is rather amusing.

too right. and unfortunately, UP doesnt get it. because i dont get ANYTHING new up here. nothing but those zombies. if i got new stuff instead, do you REALLY think i would still be whining? i would be able to finally forget about CNW and move on to the modern diesel era! but UP wont send me ANYTHING except for zombies. THAT'S the problem! that and the morons who actually expect me to ENJOY them.

    Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.

  • Dude.Pretty much all I get is KCS mixed frieghts with UP coal drags once or twice every week down here. Am I complaining? No. Just take what you have and roll with it. Whinin aint gonna make it any better. Besides them morons are tryin to run a railroad not please the railfans. Their main focus on coming to work every day is "How much money can I make today", not "How can we please the railfans today". Sorry to say pardner but that is the way that it is.

  • OMG STOP WITH THE CNW WE GET IT WAIT FOR A UP CNW HERATGE!

no hard feelings, but i dont complain about not seeing anything but painted over GTW's

ok im good now, see ya later

p.s. lets try to get to page 100 this year guys, how bout it?

LETS GO TIGERS! (clap, clap, clap clap clap )
  • Let's cut the bullcrap, this argument isn't going anywhere and this thread is going to get locked again. Complaining here isn't going to get your CNW's back, nor are you going to get anybody from UP to scrap reasonably good engines. RR's since the streamliner era haven't really cared about  their "appeal" to the public in general. UP isn't gonna dump their ex-CNW or spend thousands repainting them right away, when they're busy upgrading their lines (namely the Sunset Route and Cajon Pass). Watch what you have now, or hold it in, because the people here are getting tired of hearing about you hating "zombies". Also, I don't take to kindly to being called a moron. I'm leaving the argument there, if you have a problem with that Atmo, PM me.
