  • allright you two, play nice, your bouth kinda new this form has been closed 1 time and come close many other times becuse a few good guys couldent keep there arguments to themselves. others have been banned for the same reason, its okay that you two have your own diffrences, but keep them to E-mail of PM. Now dont get after me im just trying to keep things intact. and besides, what about UP's heratege?

have a nice day! Wink [;)] (lol)

LETS GO TIGERS! (clap, clap, clap clap clap )
  • the first WC wasnt really a full-fledged road. if i remember right, and i could very well be wrong, the first WC was a subsidiary of NP and then SOO. they went to SOO after NP went under. SOO wanted to control WC, but CP was in the way of that. SOO eventually was able to obtain WC. i think WC's locomotives were just NP locos with "Wisconsin Central" on the cab. probably the same goes for when SOO owned them. maybe now with a SOO logo on the tender

  • well yesterday was a day for railfanning. of course since the exciting stuff leaves Altoona at 4 iun the morning, i had a snowball's chance in hell of catching it...eh but i got the "consolation prize"

sure it's another depressing trio of CNW zombies, but i was after 2973 for a while. once i find and catch 2978, i'll have all of the 297Xs.

*sigh* if only i had done this a decade ago. all 3 of these would have been CNWs, but now looking at the picture, you'll just see another random UP train. nothing special about it at all Disapprove [V]. i swear i'm the saddest excuse of a CNW fan on the face of the Earth.

next up we have the vipper. this was taken a day earlier.

2 CNW zombies and a crash 8. an SD60 would've been nice, but this is usually as good as it gets up here.

i'd probably be less angry about the loss of every CNW unit if UP ONLY repainted them. but they swapped the horns, changed the plows, and gutted most of the nose gongs too. these units dont look or sound like CNWs at all

  • Yuck, another EJ&E switcher is heading to Horican for the horrid looking puke yellow paint job. Sounds like 303 is the one on the way there. The yellow paint is probably just as bad looking as CN taking over next year, IF they really do. I have a feeling the merger could be delayed a bit, as the Metra STAR line deal probably is going to have to be worked out as part of the deal.

  • Is that really neccessary to post something like that here? Really, I don't think that last post was necessary. All of last night's stuff is over and done with. We've talked and actually came to a consensus. Lets please move on. I did catch CNW 8701 and UP 3300 on a train together Sunday. I'm going to just post the link this time so I can save some space on here. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=208739&nseq=0

  • Well guys I have finally got the time to Post my pictures. It's going to be alot, so sorry for so many. Espically those who have dial up.

Anyway on Saturday I went to Point.

First up is IC 6054. Haven't seen an IC 60XX series SD40-2 here for a while.

We go over to the Plover line where I take a picture of a WC no Tresspassing sign.

Next we see the A407 to Wausau. Which is the train in Wausau that Brent saw.

Later as we head back to the Engine tracks I see this old guy. Seem as if I was just a day or 2 late to see her on the track. (Her trucks where anlogn side of her)

Later IC 6054 moves and I get a clear shot of WC 3027.

Evn though the Grey Ghosts aren't my favorite. Is till took a picture of her. There days are getting cut short now.

A bit farther back is the GTW OLS unit.

In the yard is a CN slug set.

IC 6054 and a Grey ghost getting ready to get there train.

Last shot of the day is WC 1566.

The enxt day I got to the appelton Area where I snatch up a really nice GBW bay window caboose, adn 2 WC time tables. I also scored a discountunded SOO ACF by Accurail.

At Menensha are 2 IC Reapaints.

That was the only train I saw there.

When we went home we had to go through Point so we stopped there one more time.

    First up is IC 6254

Next is a Astom SD40-2 with a CN SD50F behind it.

The next train that come through had a CN Dash 9 and an IC SD40-2.

    Last is a WC SD40-3.

the zombies. when they're finally gone, i will be ECSTATIC! when i think back about them, i will remember they were tortured and murdered CNWs forced to perform revenue service in an ugly, boring, and degrading paintscheme. and i will be glad that they finally got to die peacefully. i will NEVER miss them!

I never ever want you to yell at me for calling a locomotive a she.

different ideas, my good sir. i wouldnt care if people called them "she"s if they called other trains "he"s. i mean i have seen people refer to BIG BOYS as female. i'm sorry, arent they called big BOYS?

i'm very hard-pressed about gender equality. not all trains are female! in fact technically NONE of them are. they dont truly live. and therefore cant have genders or die or be zombies. we're both wrong yes, but i use "zombie" as a figure of speech because any way you look at it, UP took a great fleet of locomotives and turned them into ugly piles of [bleep]!("but at least they're still running". oh shut up. that doesnt mean squat if they look like [bleep]!) and saying "zombie" or "dying" is an easier way to express myself in that regard

    Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.

  • Big Boys are the only engines that should be called he or she. Anything else is really unneccesary becuase locomotives are machines. The real reason to call thoee SD40-2s zombies is because today is Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! Wa ha ha ha ha! Evil [}:)]

By the way, nice photos everyone!

  • yeah and i even saw one of the alpha zombies today

ugh that was just heartwrenching to look at

just terrible. UP has really made a sick mockery out of CNW....

    here's the whole consist...

    3 zombies and some geep.

today was a bad day for railfanningDisapprove [V]

  • Your lucky Atmo, try finding a mainline Chessie that isn't repainted for CSX. CSX just retired the last ones, and guess what, I didn't get photos of any Chessies. I missed seeing them for the last time, when they went by 1 mile from my house earlier this year.... on the way to the scrapper in Waycross.

Also, what about Conrail? They were the RR I grew up with, and now they're rapidly being painted over, they're S3L's are being torn off, and they're class lights are being patched over. Your lucky you still get to see engines that still look like CNWs. Finally,  what about MP, WP, and MKT? What did UP do for them?

You want to see what one of the most famous RR's of all time was reduced too? http://www.smmrailphotos.net/other/agrollingscrapyard.html

Those photos were taken a mile from my house, and NOT by me.

Like I said your lucky, and now back on topic, nice photos everyone, and a late Happy Halloween too. Haven't had any luck with trains recently, CSX has only sent me a SB manifest led by two ex-Conrail C40-8Ws in the last week or two.

The question of what CSX stands for comes up frequently on these forums, so here you go. C=Chessie S=Seaboard, X=Many More/The RR's that Chessie and Seaboard were comprised of (L&N, C&O, SCL, etc)
