  • This is a bit MR related.

I took a look at my WC roster and rilized on how much it grew. I basicaly started with a SW1500 and a GP40. The SW1500 I never really used much. So 4 locomotives over a few moneths really made a diffrence, and I think I'm on my way to completing it. But that won't but for a long time. I'ms till planning to get 2 more SD45s, a FP45, and a AC SD40-2. But for now, I don't have the money.

    From right to left, Ex ATSF SD45 5547, WC SD45 6505, WC SD45 6588, WC SD45 6588( I have doubles), WC GP40 3005, and WC SW1500 1551.

  • I've got 4 WCs on my roster, a SD45, a F45, a GP40, and a unpowered SW1500. I've also got 10 EJ&Es (is that any surprize?), two Iowa Interstate engines, two Indiana Harbor Belt engines, and a South Shore GP38-2 to make up the Chicagoland shortline roster. I really need to get a Belt Railway engine soon. The EJ&Es I have are a patched DM&IR SD9 (I patched it myself a few years ago), 657, 665 (my personal favorite EJ&E SD38-2), two models of 703, one in the old scheme, one in J-Ball paint, a very hard to find custom built low hood SD18, a NW2 in the orange over green scheme, and two SW1200s, one in the old brown scheme and one in the John Deere green scheme.

Jordan, looks like you have quite a WC roster there!

This will probably be my last post until I get back from the Dells Monday so have a great snowy weekend!

Well, if the CNW owned Dash 9s, then it's CNW. Same for the SP dash 9s, SD70s, MK5000s, AC40s....
Remember that the CNW had Dash 8s, which some had wide cabs...
I would have nightmares about CNW Dash 8s in Little Rock trying to run over me...and they were possessed(meaning no crews, I WAS 4), and they had Spartan cabs
Personally, dash 8s are an eyesore, but wait until they get all scrapped, then see what happens

it doesnt matter. CNW crash 9s dont do a thing for me. and all these 2 annoying crappers are doing is making it harder to get REAL CNWs donated. i want to see something that will bring me back a few years. back to my past when railfanning was EXCITING.

and no, CNW never owned any crash 8s. only dash 8s. their first widecab unit was the crash 9

  • Robby, you got a nice roster there too. I would like some more locos, like I listed. I have been tossing around the idea of 2 GP7s or another GP40. But my plan is to get 2 Athearn SD45s, renumber them to 7526, and 7528. Then take the more "junkey" P2K SD45 and Repaint that to a Ex Morrission Knuedson Leasing SD45. Then I'll see where that takes me.

  • Matt, some nice shots! I especially like the one of the 2816.

Robby, who makes IAIS power? Or was it a custom paint job? I didn't know anybody did any locomotives for them. A pair of IAIS GP units would look pretty nice...

As long as were sharing rosters, here's mine. Not particularly big, but it's still growing:

    Wisconsin And Southern:

    5 Athearn SD40-2s (4001-4004, and 4025)
    2 Atlas GP38s (3806 and 3807)
    1 Custom Paint Athearn GP38 3808 - retired

    Wisconsin Northern

    2 GP15-1s (1500 and 1501)

    WC

    1 athearn SW1500

    SOO

    2 Athearn GP38s
    1 GP9m (my first locomotive)

    Other

    2 P2K E8/9s (One B&O and one Southern - to be WSOR 10A and 10C)
2 old Athearn SW1500s - need lots of shop work
2 old Athearn GP38s, perhaps to be repainted or something

Of those, only the WN GP15s, Atlas GP38s, and three of the WSOR SD40-2s are DCC equiped.

At some point I want to pick up the third WSOR GP38 that Atlas did, and a couple-three of Atlas MP15DCs that will be painted up for my freelanced shortline (the ARK). I also want to find a pair of Kato SD40-2s relatively cheap, and custom paint/detail them for the Iowa, Chicago and Eastern. It would be nice to get a few Green Bay and Western RS27s and WC SD45s too, but that's probably dreaming at this point.  And of course eventually (in the very long term) I plan to reconstruct the whole WSOR roster in HO scale. So many things, so little $$.....

    Noah

  • whoa. noah, you have WN stuff? did you make it or does somone sell them? i would enjoy having a set for myself if the latter is true

    Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.

  • Yes, atmo, he kitbashed them, decaled them, and painted them all himself.

    Alec

  • Yep, I do have WN stuff Atmo. Like Alec said, I custom painted and detailed them:

The GP15-1s are pretty much just the stock Walthers locomotives (no shell modifications), but then I detailed the heck out of them with as many parts as I could while still being able to handle the locomotive without breaking something. I airbrushed the green and some of the black, but the rest was all decals. The decals were avalible from Scale Rail Graphics, but since they are now out of business (or at least that's what their website says) finding the sets might be hard. That's the main reason I did the units, because I liked the look of the WN stuff and then convienently SRG came out with decals.

They were my first major locomotive painting and detailing project, but they've inspired me to do more. That's why I'd like to find a pair of SD40-2s for ICE units...
