don't buy from internethobbies.com: they're crooks

  • Just checking back to give you a status report on the Lou character. We have never heard back from this guy about his missing order and money.

Either he was a "viral" marketer hired by the competition or he discovered that he bought it someplace else and is too embarrased to come back on this forum and admit it.

Amazing how someone could do this but what the heck. That's life.

Please, if anybody can shed some light on this let me know.

Looking at lou's profile I see he's still actively making posts. If he's not going to respond to this thread maybe he doesn't want any help or anything further to do with the matter, whether or not he was right or wrong. But, Mr. Dale Bruner, you have redeemed your company from the accusation and that's all that matters.

  • I have several pennies to put on this table. First off, Mr Dale, you have taken valuable time to address a issue from lou1963 and placed your company in a good image. I too am wondering why this person has not responded with either a "Thank you" or "Oops I messed up" or any other information.

My next point is I use the internet to find images and information on Model railroad items. I myself do not wi***o "purchase" anything via the internet. I have hoped that the unhappy indivduals here have had a firewall up, updated computers and checked the bottom of the browser screen for the privacy Lock which should activate for a secure transaction. Also a printout of the screen upon clicking the buy button helps a great deal. Usually an email is sent with confirmation and numbers attached to the order. If everything is legit there should be no problem tracking a late order.

I usally buy my items in person at one of my hobby stores train meets or over the phone and follow up with a check against the credit card statement as well.

Just my two cents. Perhaps Andy of MR can find inspiration in a article aimed at internet purchases of Hobby Items for future readers who may be contemplating buying via the internet.

    Good Luck!

  • I have something to add, also, that has developed this last week.

This is more of an obersvation:

    1) A couple days ago someone put a post on here agreeing with lou, that he hasn't got his order he purchased yet. That post has disappeared but I'm sure I saw it here. (Speculation: maybe that person got the item after all?)

    2) There was something in the newspaper or a magazine this week about how internet-ordered items from various internet retailers have not been showing up. I can find the article now and I can't remember if this phenomenon has been attributed to the busy Christmas season or if it's on going thing. It had something to do with the mail loosing it or maybe it was a computer glitch.

It's not so much fruad as it is more likely a computer or human error. To reiterate Mr. Dale Bruner's statements, if anybody has a problem recieving their items it would really help the companies out if you let them know you didn't get it in order for them to track down exactly where the problem(s) is/are occurring so as to rectify the situation so it doesn't happen again and they can better serve you and everyone else in the future.

So don't give up. Be persistant if you don't get your item. I'm almost tempted to buy something over the internet just to see how the whole process works! [:)]

  • I would rather give my credit card number to a secured server then a human operator. A few year back TWA was in hot water because they were using cheap operator labor from the US Penitentiary system (60 Minutes). You never know who you are talking too. Secured computer systems to handle the transaction with a human touch.

I purchased all my christmas gifts of the internet, not one problem. No lines, no traffic, no people!!'

  • Hi Ironhorseman, it was me who posted that the goods had not arrived since 4 weeks and that nobody was answering my investigations at internethobbies. But just at the evening when I had posted the message I had the idea to send a fax to them. Some 10 mins later Dale gave me a phone call (I am in Germany!) excusing for what I had experienced with his company and giving me the tracking no for my merchandise. The goods had been shipped just that day. The reason for the delay was that they had received one of my ordered goods in defect condition and so had to reorder it. They only had forgotten to inform me. This was last friday or so. Today I got the goods well packed and in good condition, just as expected. So in that case I have to excuse my first suspicion and have to admit that they do a fair business.
