Yesterday, I went to say a prayer at my Dad's grave, and sure enough, a CN train rumbled by.

However, the cemetery has densely landscaped the fences along the railroad tracks with trees, no doubt as a view and sound block. (I guess only railfans would find an unobstructed view of the tracks a pretty sight.) I am told that some of these edge areas are where the cemetery will bury amputated limbs for those who request it...

Yesterday I watched a dvd of Great American Rail Journeys--The American South By Rail. They showed several cemeteries in the video. They also talked about a book--Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. (I hope that is the right name for the book.) I didn't realize that graveyard were such a big draw.

The spot I first talked about would be a pretty good spot to take pics from. I still have some issues about it. I am going to try to be open minded about it and see what happens in the future.

NO I don't think it would be a good spot to take a picture. I would be a little uneasy about it. As for being there to watch the trains that's ok. I can remember a sighting of an engine the same as a picture sometimes. Sometimes that;s all that you need,know what I mean?

You might not believe it but I do like that picture. One it is very colorful. Color always helps a picture. Two, how can you not appreciate the paint scheme of Wisconsin Central--very nice. Three, the graveyard itself adds to this picture because of the decorations, again more color. Four, nature itself added much green in the trees. Five, it is worthwhile because it shows something most people probally will not ever see--a train going through a graveyard, very odd.

Now this is a little funny too. Today I was walking Duchess and thought to myself, Halloween is just around the corner. I bet someone takes a pic in a cemetery and give us a link to it as a Halloween joke. So it is funny, at least to me, that you posted this tonight. I bet we do get another one by Halloween.

Historic Rosehill Cemetery in Chicago used to have a train station with an elevator to deliver caskets to the cemetery. (The railroad line is elevated and forms a "wall' for the cemetery.) This picture http://www.graveyards.com/rosehill/stairs.html shows all that's left of the station.
