  • I work in the Pacific Railroad Museum, a part of the Pacific Railroad Society. I also belong to the Orange Empire Railroad Museum and serve as Committee Chair for Descanso, the PRS 1909 Funeral Car. There are several more good hardworking groups in the LA CA area but I only have limited time. Lindsay

  • I belong to the Denver & Rio Grande Western Modeling and Historical Society. The society really gets into the nuts and bolts of things. Vast amounts of knowledge are locked away in the minds of the members. Tapping into that is like a gold mine.

  • I belong to the Lake Shore Railway Historical Society. Ours is more than just a club, we operate Lake Shore Railway Museum in North East (that's a town, not a direction), Pennsylvania. We are next to CSX and NS mainlines that run from Buffalo to Chicago.

  • It would be interesting to note which particular railroad historical societies tend to attract the most interest. My impression has been that it's the smaller railroads (or even the long-gone but never-to-be-forgotten ones like the Ontario & Western) that draw the strongest interest from members, perhaps because they're small enough really to get to know in detail. Not to disparage the Union Pacifics or New York Centrals, but how can one truly comprehend such sprawling entities. The Ann Arbor, on the other hand, can serve as a rivet-counter's delight!
