WC's SD45 fleet sent to the scrapper

  • Now Max, i know you dont like Geeps, but that GP30 is pretty rare. It rides on ALCo trucks just like the 700, and not too many of these GP30's that are preserved are on ALCo trucks.

  • i know, but it means nothing if the SD45s are all gone. WC's symbolic locomotive is the SD45. and how can that road be remembered if they all go to the scrapper? donating just one will not hurt CN's business. does CN even USE standard cab units still?

yeah i dont like geeps. or ALCO for that matter. i always thought their locomotives were really ugly. not as ugly as the GE locomotives rolling out now, but ugly nonetheless. so i really dont have much love for that geep

  • Yes, standard cabs are in use, but some are CNized, like there SD40U's. They have a special type cab, just like the GP9RM's they have.

Now, Kale, tell me that you didnt state that totally wrong. You said the engines have leasing markings, not BEING leased.

    Alec

one i've seen was sublettered I think for larry truck and electeric.........and i saw some from CN BEING leased to NS on a through freight.....thats what I ment
  • well i just discovered that some WC color SD45s are owned by MRL. maybe those wont get scrapped until far into the future. thank god...

Yes and Larry's Truck and Electric has a large back log so the 45's they have there probablly will live to rust another day.
  • i see i see. never heard of them. but that's good to know. i didnt know any other roads had SD45s. Alec told me it was just WC and MRL.

What are you talking about bud? I LOVE THE #700!....... I havent been on all week...you mean Kale?

And when I saw the unit, it was MRL, not IMRL, and it IS being leased to CN, exactly what Kale said.

  • Not you Max, LordAtmo, his name is Max. And actually it is IMRL, or atleast thats what it was identified down here on the radio. Guess someone goofed, as it does say MRL on the side. Max, this is what Kale said,
"I have seen plenty of the 645's of ex. WC herritage up in nothern minnesota with leasing company markings"

Leasing company MARKINGS, as in HLCX, GSCX. Not MRL. I know what he meant, but im talking about how he stated it, and he didnt do it correctly.

hiya Max. i'm Max. nice to meet you, Max. if this gets confusuing, you guys can just call me Atmo. [:p]

ok that should end confusion. how many SD45s from any road at all are in museums? any ATSF or BN ones? i'd be just as thrilled if there was an ATSF SD45 on display somewhere since 6620 began its life as ATSF. maybe not the beginning, but it was ATSF somewhere in its life. yes i'm attached and obsessed with that locomotive. so sue me[8D]

and as far as HO WC locomotives go, i think i'm SOL for a standard colors SD45, but this Geep doesn't look too bad

  • Its easy to custom paint the numbers.

  • i know, but that model there is a geep whereas 6620 was an SD45. so repainting the geep 6620 would do me no good. unless you mean a real actual locomotive in a museum
