WC's SD45 fleet sent to the scrapper

  • I would really like it if IRM got one and operated it. I do not think they are interested in them, but you never know what IRM has planned.

It would be much better suited somewhere that has more than 4-5 miles of track.....a REAL railroad.

They do have a recently painted Burlington northern U30C. And that thing is a few feet longer than an SD45. There huge! So I'm sure they may pick one up from somewhere.

    Happy railroadingLaugh [(-D]

  • No new shots. The last time I saw an SD45 was when I travelled to Stone Lake WI to see the 7531 on the 29th. Likely the last time I would see one face to face.

  • I have heard another SD45 has been retired. There are now only 4 active! CN is now working all the remaining SD45s towards Homewood so get them while you can, as the days of WC SD45s on CN are quickly coming to a end.

  • it was a good run. i wish CN wasnt to hard-pressed about their primary purpose. almost every other road goes out of their way to please railfans now and then (UP donating 5371 and keeping steam around, to name an example)

yes i know. railroads are here to move goods. but spending extra money for these few things will benefit them in other ways. the PR they get from it. and with all those derailments on the ex BC track, CN could use it

  • Was talking to a CN engineer and he said the #7531 was puking its guts out yesterday, and that recently all the SD45's have been running like crap.

  • Maintain almost any loco they way they're maintaining their SD45s, and you get similar results...

Building the CPR Kootenay division in N scale, blog here: http://kootenaymodelrailway.wordpress.com/

  • and then i even went on to name examples. why would UP be doing the heritage fleet and running old steam? why would BNSF be asking for the help of railfans to report problems on the rails? why is NS considering bringing back a N&W steamer and a steam program? why does CP let 261 use their track?

to please railfans and get good PR as a result! that's why!

  • Theyre just looking out for numero uno, like all the railroads.
