  • Its SOO paint because the SOO SD60's numbers conflict with the CP SD40-2s. Plus, the 60's are on the road all the time, and definately not a priority to paint them Max. But you may be right that CP doesnt "officially" own them, but im not sure.

And Max (lordatmo), you dont understand what kind of a lease me and Max are talking about.

  • well in the car sales world leasing means you get a new vehical to use as long as you obay the terms of the lease and pay monthly dues.......once you have paid the cars value the car can most of the time be bought at that time but up untill then it remains dealership property.....you can't modify them untill then.........I'm going to apply that kind of to the railroads......experimental units were comminly painted into the host rairoads colors....but you don't see any EMDX leaseing units repainted for the railroads who lease them ....If that were true that DMIR SD38 that we rented 2 years ago would be in NSSR paint .........They will be UP property arter the lease agreement is up and UP is satisfied with teir praformence...theyv will have to be purchased of course......
  • Has 7638 been repaired yet?
  • Havent heard it being repaired or sent to the scrapper as of now. What happens in the future, im not sure, but will post when i have information.

  • WC SD45 7499 was officially retired May 31, 2006. I was surprised to hear this, as this unit had the helper link service for Byron Hill.

    Yessir.
  • To everyone concerned about the future of the SD45 fleet:

I have personally made arrangements to purchase all SD45's currently available from Canadian National, as well as any SD45 that becomes available in the next 60 months. All units will be added to my personal collection and preserved or restored with the exception of two units:

Unit 1 will be used in a future episode of Monster Garage. Jesse and the crew will attempt to turn 7638 into a helicopter/sno-cone maker.

Unit 2 will become the first former WC diesel to attempt to jump the fountains at Ceaser's Palace. Chris Angel and David Blaine will team up as conductor and engineer, repectively. Natually, this will be a pay-per-view event.

    Cheers![:)]

QUOTE: Why is CN doing buisness a problem

Railroads exist to move goods, not to please railfans (Except for amtrak which exists for our amusement)

You could also replace CN wit UP and replace the last bit with taking over other railroads

  • I'm serious. railroads exist to MOVE GOODS, and if forming a mega railroad helps that, then so be it
