Another merger

  • I have heard in the past that there was talk of NS and BNSF but I hope not. I am a big NS fan, and the last thing that NS needs to do is merge with the crappy BNSF or the Big Nothing So Far. NS is a great railroad and if a merger does happen which would be unfortunate, NS would definitely go down hill, there would be no where else to go if NS merged with a crappy railroad.

  • That is a great question. Aside from the NS and CSX, all the other class one railroadsare so big tht if they merged, it would creat a monopoly. Come to think of it, the BNSF and the CN tried to merge, but the government didn't allow it bcause the result would be a monopoly.

  • No it wouldnt be a monopoly but service would have been affected. UP would have had to merge and so forth and so on and a lock up of the rail system while everyone gets on the same page. We got Frisco guys that hate the BN SF guys who hate the BN, Q guys even that hate em all!
    NS is a great road? Crappy BNSF? If we are so crappy why have you been taking our crappy trains making money off them? Seems to me if NS was so great we wouldnt be running the dog of all dogs the NSIKCK from Streator daily.How about all those Z trains your getting?

Can you imagine the Transcon single track? Wow what a great way to run trains. I like his new book on how employees should be treated. that Hunter a REAL class act!If you cant tell I have my tounge so far into my cheek it isnt funny.

    I don't want BNSF to merge with anyone. Do you know how much I have spent already just adding new stock in new colors.... and then the different logos that keep coming out...... (not that BN didn't constantly change schemes) we're on H3 and the 3rd or 4th logo/ID scheme. Not only that I've added patched SF and reg SF stuff too. -always intended to though. I don't think I would honor another merger. It would end with ES44DC and SD70ACe units.

    I retract my statement about what I said there. CN Needs new management and I would say almost anything would be better than what it is now.

  • 4 years? I didn't realize it was in talks for that long. Will it make a difference that Hank Wolf has retired?

    Well if this does happen, I would rather see a corporate takeover. We keep BNSF the way it is and NS simply disappears. (sorry NS fans)
