Another merger

I was recently in New Haven Indiana and 8 of the 11 trains I saw all had at least 2 BNSF locos on NS track. I GARRUNTEE that Norfolk Southern and BNSF are going to merge unless CN takes one of em first. And I know that CN will take a US class 1.

The merger map should be rolled back to just before the UP C&NW merger. That was when the meltdowns started to occur.
Just my 2 cents.
Ride Amtrak. Cats Rule, Dogs Drool.

I think at some point at least one of these mega railroads will fail and fall apart. Is CSX beginning to have problems? If thats the case maybe some of us will get our favorite railroads back [:)]

I heard from a Union Pacific engineer awhile back that UP was thinking of merging with CN but so far nothing has happened.I also so heard awhile back that BNSF was thinking of merging with NS.I think the BNSF/NS will merge next though.
BNSF already has the letters NS in their name (B"NS"F)

Pure speculation here but I'd guess UP- CSX in reaction to a BNSF-NS union.
I don't think it will be anytime soon though.
Too many problems in the industry right now, and making any system bigger is not the answer yet.
They all swap power, ( we're likely to see anwthing, anywhere) and each of the big roads cooperate with the other when it's in their best interests.
Each has better routes to somewhere that it's main competitor , so we see rivalry in one area and cooperation in another area. For now.

The next move will not be a merger but a buy-out. CN and NS will make a move to purchase the CSX. CSX is the weak sister in the east. CN and NS will take of CSX what they both want. NS a route around Washington DC and CN will move to Atlanta, GA and JAcksonville, FL. What neither want will be sold off to various short lines such as the Wheeling and the I&O.

Good point Saxman. Based on your scenario, one would think CN would be all over CSX's Chicago- northeast route. If they dont, they'd open the floodgates.
Chicago-Atlanta, and the east coast Florida-northeast routes would seem attractive too.
