I voted for the GE C44-9CW - I like the trucks and angular design of the nose.
But to be honest today's loco designs don't have the style of first generation diesels,
    e.g. Alco PA & FA, EMD F-series.

  • My favorite current locomotive is the SD70 with the spartan (regular) cab. However, overall, my absolute favorite is any former Southern unit with the high short hood. Those definitely beat the C40-9W's in looks.

  • My favourite locomotive is and will always be the belching VIA FPA 4's that were prominent in the southwestern Ontario until the LRC started taking over. I will never forget the first time I ever saw this beauty. It was in London on the train that ran with conventional equiptment up through Kitchener to Toronto.

  • While they're getting long in the tooth, the EMD SD-40T-2 would have to be my favourite

  • Without a doubt it is the SD90Mac. The locomotive is the T-Rex of locomotives: big, bad and beautiful. All others are like velociraptors. Now all that needs to happen is for EMD to solve the reliability issues with the loco.
