Favorite modern locomotive

Favorite modern locomotive

    As stated above, these are all freight loco's. In that category I like the SD90MAC. I like the cool offset "T" elevation from the rear of this loco. In passenger service I like the EMD F59. Unfortunately Amtrak runs very few (almost 0) of them through my area in central MO. All I see pullint the "Missouri Mule" between KC and StL are P42 "Genesis" locos, which in my opinion are the A#1 UGLIEST locomotive ever build (thanks you very much GE).

    I Myself like the relatively rare B40-8, B40-8W. I also like AC4400CW.

    Although not considered modern . . .
    Anything from the GE U-boats to AC60CW; to the EMD E and F units to the SD70ACe I genrally Like them all. Not to leave out ALCOs too except for "Black Maria's" and their early locomotives (not High Hoods). I like to spread out my locomotive likes especially when it comes to a good majority of locomotives that are found worldwide and made by any locomotive manufacturer.

    Some of the European Steamers are quite good as a few good Swiss Re 6/6 and Scandinavian locomotives Rc4 . . .

    My favorite is the SD70M because it was among the last engines SP bought before it was bought out by the UP evil empire[:(!].I know SPalso bought GE AC units,but I prefer the looks of the SD70Ms[:D].

    My most favorite examples were Conrail's 3200's. Which were copies of the old New York Central GP40's right down to the 61:16 high speed gearing(77 MPH max). They put Conrail's Trailvan trains on the map and were a favorite of engineers in the old New York Central territory such as and the Boston and Albany and Mohawk and Hudson Div.

    EMD SD70 is a hot locomotive and coming from a guy who loves tugboats just as much, it's awesome to see the profile of that behemoth.I have 2 by Athearn and i'm proud of them.No offense intendee to GE, but EMD corners the market with its locomotives and tugboat engines.

    I have a very distinct taste for foreign locomotives that include some of the best (in my opinion) Scandinavian locos like the Swedish Dm3 and Rc4 (similar to AEM7). The Dm3 is my favorite not for its speed but for the continuous tractive effort at 210,000lbs(932kN).

    I really hate any engine from the late GPs and SDs as well as all Ges after U-boats. If it can come with a safety cab I hate it. [:(!]Alcos, any model, I love them[:I]. BL2s rock. GP30s with their brutish looks are sweet. CF7s are awesome oddballs. Oh and Sharknoses are the best. [:D]Can anyone get pictures & info on the ALCO Black Marias? [?]Post a site if you find one.
