Railroad videos

  • I have both VHS and DVD, also a lot of ones I shot of Cumbres Toltec, one I like is a old M&ST L VHS showing some of the early promotional shots of it. I watch a lot on the Cumbres Toltec, like the Rotary and early production shots of the train first start-up after it was sold to the states.
  • I have purchased many videos from many sources, but Pentrex continues to offer the best selections on the most subject matters and prices to match.

  • I have close to 300 railroad videos and probably 100 of them are model railroad videos. I think that the Pentrex Video of the Pasadena Model Railroad Club called the "Sierra Pacific Lines" model railroad is the finest model railroad tape I have ever seen, I must have watched this tape at least 30 times or so over the years and it is outstanding. It has all of the sounds in the video including steam, diesel and all the coupling sounds. I do not work for them, but I am a big supporter of theirs.

  • I buy railroad videos because (hopefully) they show us scenes that we couldn't get as individual railfans such as behind the scenes looks at railyards and buildings or they video in remote locations I would unlikely get to. Additionally, I might make a purchase about some location far away from my home in an area I know i'll never actually visit in person. The best videos also try to educate their viewers by providing them with accurate, interesting information about their topics and the area they are operating in.

  • My son & I use videos as a guide for ideas on our model railroad and just for the pleasure of watching trains when inclement weather would make railfanning difficult. We buy from many different comapnies and the videos are on modern railroads in the northeastern part of the USA (Conrail, CSX, etc.) and also ones that are on model railroads, such as the Allen Keller series.
