TEEN RAILFAN PLACE-LET'S TALK TRAINS! Thread Locked

  • Well, just my luck. As we were coming home from the Philly Auto Show on the train, the power gets knocked out. We were stranded on it for 20 mins. Do not know why it lost power. Well, it was great, loved it all. Saw a ton of different cars, and I told my dad and his friend the specs. of the cars before they even looked at the paper. Lots of adds, and the bag almost split. Well, will be on here for a while.

  • I'm lonely. Does anyone want to call me? Please? Eric can't talk and my parents are leaving for a while. If you want to talk, my number is 330-864-0849. Oh, and post on here before you call, that is, if you do.

Oskar- There is one other CSX unit still in Chessie colors. Not sure of the numbers, but I believe it is an EMD GP38-2. You know which one I mean? It reads 'C&O' in the dark blue part of the Chessie scheme above the lettering.

Well, I might go railfanning tomorrow depending on the weather. It is supposed to snow, but things might change. But since I want to railfan, that means they won't, LOL.

Anyways, remember what I said about calling, I'm lonely [:(], LOL.

: Trains! Or anyhting else we decide on talking about at the spur of the moment. Just a conversation, I guess.

  • Richard, what would you want to talk about? I am as well at home, alone, but have my dog to keep me company, as well as my CD collection. One is in right now, blasting, and I can hear it from the basement.

  • according to www.trainweb.org/csxphotos CSX 9120-9122 is chessie and 9119 is in MOW paint. This is not 100% true. thedieselshop.us has no info on the paint status even with 4601 and 4617 but are 99.5% correct on things really good site.

  • I know this relates to a conversation two pages ago, but I have been busy and didn't check in for a while. About that 1/1000 shutter speed camera, a wide angle lens would seem to be a good choice. It would let in more light, and even with the aperture wide open has a deep depth of field.
  • Here is the only Reading Lines passenger car I have seen in person.

  • This ones just for you Richard.

    ES44's SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, i would have gone fanning today, but its 7 degrees and my friend doesnt want to go "because its too cold". That ticks me off some! I'll probably be playing TSim today, and watching the Super Bowl.

  • LOL, Alec! I don't care what you think. I'm just saying I like them.

Matthew-I have had a lot of girlfriends, but my mom doesn't want me inviting anyone to our place while she's gone. So that sucks. I have a friend down the road who could walk to my place, but because of my mom's rule, he can't.

I would've went railfanning today, but the [soapbox] snow came back! I hate that. Every time, it's like a curse. Every time I want to railfan, the weather conditions suck. Or maybe it's just bad karma (spelling*)[:D].

I was watching some of my train videos today that I have filmed recently (meaning last year, and earlier this year) and came across CSX 674 (AC6000CW) that has a horn like a CSX SD70MAC with flared radiators. Then watching another video, I came across CSX 4703, an SD70MAC with flared radiators, that had a horn similar to that of a CSX AC4400CW. I know this is one stupid question, but I would like to know what's up with this. Horns are changing on me.

Also, I believe CSX 766, an EMD SD70MAC will be in the shops for a while. That EMD was smoking and polluting like an old steamer (not cutting the steamers at all). It was also making a moaning sound. Anybody know why this EMD was doing this? Because I haven't seen a GE do this recently. Oh yeah, and how about a NS (patched Conrail) EMD SD40-2 that was shooting flames? How about that? Any opinions or remarks, LOL?

  • Hey Richard, dont be bashing Colin for talking cars, we are both what you might call "car guys"...

Colin- that auto show sounded good, I cant wait for the one here in Chicago...!

Noah- do not subscibe to TRAINS, however I really should, lemme read that aartilce and Ill get back to you....but I am glad I got to see the F45s, just in ase they are put away!

YES! Party sunny + cooprative dad + car = RAILFANNIG!!!!!

Ohh, Alec.... ES44s do not SUCK (my opinoin, you can have yours) I happen to like them. Have you ever heard one? They sound GREAT!
  • I already went over the sound. They sound neat. Funny how all U30C's from GE are all gone, and were JUNK!. Funny how in the same era SD40's and GP38-2 's are still running around. Oh, and they were built by EMD. Funny how the GE C39-8's spit fire all over the place and they are all retired, and the survivors will be soon also. Made by GE. But the SD40-2s are older and still running around. Built by EMD.

  • I am very confused here. Why cant you go railfanning in snow? 7 degree's? Give me a break. I have been outside with shorts on in -20 degree weather. Maybe its cause I live in the "icebox" of the nation////
