The Bachmann line I am referring to includes the engines in the DCC starter sets they make. I still have to make the pitch to my dad. I have one problem with height. I think there is only about 3ft between the bottom of the window and the floor in my room. I found a great deal on some Atlas remote switches for $11. They have great deals on rolling stock as well. Mainly I am focusing on gondolas, covered hoppers, open hoppers, and boxcars. Maybe even some tankers. So, if the pitch goes well, I will need a lot more information on the rolling stock, and locos.

Colin, Get your Atlas switches as soon as you possibly can. Atlas is raising the prices on most of their stuff here very soon, if it's not tomorrow already. I don't know how much it will be going up, but it will be quite a bit.

3 foot is probably an okay heigth. That way you can run it while sitting in a chair too, especially if you get a chair that can roll.

Atlas isn't a bad brand for rolling stock for sure, and from what I've heard their locomotives aren't that bad either. Another brand you might want to consider that are a fairly good value is Athearn Blue Box kits. They can usually be picked up for between 7-11 dollars a car. They are kits, which means you have to do some minor assembly, but it isn't a lot and most of the time I actually consider it fun, I enjoy building the cars. They are fairly detailed but aren't overly so, but I find that okay, as the cars are handled a lot anyway and little parts will just break off.

Another brand of Cars you might want to consider are the Walthers cars. They are a pretty good quality, well detailed, and most are ready to run. The only bad part I find is the price, as even on sale in the Walthers Catologue they are expensive. But, if you have some extra money and want really good quality, I would say go for it.

Keep an eye out in your Walthers Sale Catalog too, sometimes good deals can be found in there. I should know, I order from it through my LHS (To avoid shipping, and they will still honor the price discount) quite often. I'd check and see if your local hobby shop will honor the prices from the Walthers Sales catolag, as it will save you a lot of money on shipping and hobby items.

Well, hope to railfan this weekend. Hope to get some more rarities. Looks like CSX's ES44DCs are getting popular now! I love those. CSX ES44DCs are my favorite loco currently! They're just awesome, don't ask why. And the same with NS's SD70M-2s and ES40DCs.

Oskar-NS get any new deliveries of those brands of locos yet? And did CSX get more deliveries of ES44DCs yet? Just wondering.

Well, thanks for even more info. I do like to build some kits, but mostly prefer RTR. The Walters catalog is advertising some 2packs for $20-30. Should I go for those?

well NS ordered more NS SD70M-2 2701-2770 they can order more before they run into the numbers of the GP38AC.NS also ordered more ES40DC 7515-7564.CSX dosen't have any more besides the last 10 or so still coming in to make it to 100 ES44DC. Those ES44DC are becoming popular including the horns which are weird to hear.

Why do yall like them ES44's? Ive seen three CP's and its getting extremely boring now. The only thing "cool" about them is the strong chug they make. Yesterday I called the Depot as the train was still their when i got back from school, and it had the same two NS units on the train. Nothin really new to say, but hope everyone has a good day.

hey guys my mom just got a new camera and the shutter speed is 1/1000 of a sec. and the camera is olympus stylus verb and that is what i am going to use to take pictures of trains.

At that shutter speed you're going to have a tough time shooting anything when it's anything but clear skies and bright sun outside...can't you change the speed?

It really depends on the F-stop, which, since I assume that model is a point and shoot camera, is very, very low, mostly likely somewhere around 1.0. With such a low F-stop, there should be no problem in most lighting conditions, even when its cloudly or low-light.

It has a lighting modes like night time,seeing through glass,and others and plus chose what resolution to choose curently have it on the highest one and the shutter speed does not change except when you have it on the night mode and with the flash on.
