  • Well, back from railfanning.

Not much action, but I did recieve an air hose off of another CSX C40-7. They are stripping it for parts. They have all C40-7's as their primary freight haulers, but are only running 2 of 3. I did not catch the steamer, it was where I took those shots from Thursday. I will have them on later in the day. Oh, I saw a GP30 that they just got and are finally running it. They have 2 steamers that are being restored. I am a little upset that they have no ALCo's on that line. I have some cab shots from the CSX Unit.

    Oskar
You were correct, it was in fact a CSX unit, and like I said, I saw a cousin, and then a distant cousin of it, the distant one being from the UP.

I have plans to make the air hose look better, going to repaint the hose part flat black, and then the ends red.

Do you mean a CSX C40-8 beacuse CSX dosen't have C40-7's just 8's

    kevin
  • No, under the cab it said C40-7.
    Colin from prr.railfan.net
  • hmmmm it must be a typo with the people at the paint shop I have searched, asked for a CSX C40-7,they said no model of a C40-7 was made. A freind who works for NS said awhile back that some paint people have a sence of humor like on NS 2524 it says NW under the number but NW was gone when the SD70 was made and he drove a SD40-2 that said D9-40CW under it.I searched these site for a C40-7 what was the number of the unit.

There was never a C40-7 Built..... Must of been an error.
  • Here are some from my railfan trip yesterday.

The steamer that is being restored, along with the tender.

The cab off of another steamer in the service shed.

The overall view of the small work train.

The cab shots. The first one is the battery, and starter board.

  • Chris, Yo Soy Pedro en la clase de espanol. Mucho Gusto Chris!

Colin, Nice shots from your adventure. I like the MoW equipment too, I've always wanted to model MoW equipment. It's always been something that has been interesting to me, with all the exposed pipes and wires and such, they don't look as streamlined as most diesels.

Well guys, not much new to report. I got some prototype photos of a small yard office in Rock Springs, Wi, yesterday, and I've decided to base the color scheme for the office I'm scratchbuilding off of it. I think it'll look okay when it's all done, and it'll look like something

I better get going, I'm going out for breakfast here in a little while, and, of course, I better go work on the module.

  • Noah, clase de espanol es dificil en la colegio. La profesora es mean.

AGAIN!!!! It's sooooo typical! Yesterday was 50 degrees (well still is) and sunshine. My mom promised me we were going to go to Berea the next day. The forecast even said sunshine. Alas, today comes and it is rainy, windy and clouds are rolling. Urrgh! It's like the weather does this on purpose. Bad karma (spelling*) eh?

Anyways, my mom will still take me. We just need to be careful about the camera, tripod, scanner and still camera (or whatever you want to call it). My friend is supposedly supposed to show up at Berea after they eat lunch. So I should have a good 3 hours with him at least. But hey, he's getting there at 2:30 pm. I'm not waiting around that long---I want trains, LOL. We're leaving in an hour at 10:30 am my time.

  • Richard, I understand the weather thing. I think this is the 9th or 10th weekend in a row that It's been nice, and I've been planning to go somewhere with a friend, but it's been cloudy on the weekend. Sure, it was nice and sunny from Wednesday to Friday, but come Saturday, it gets cold, rainy, and cloudy. So, I end up at home instead. I really wi***hat it would get sunny on the weekend soon......

Better get back to the module,
    Noah

The unit is owned by The New Hope & Ivyland Railway, a shortline. I got an MU hose off of it, they are just using it for parts right now, ditchlights gone, lights gone, but the motor is still in the shell. I wanted to get a number board off of it, but I was not able to, the guy in the shop would not let me.
