  • Welcome back James! It's good to see you back, I've been waiting for you to show back up since Bergie first said you were comming back.

Richard, as Matt said, it's in York, England. The Railroad Museum is home to a few famous locomotives, including the Mallard, the fastest steam loco on record(I think), the Flying Scottsman, the same one that is in Microsoft Train simulator, as well as a few other intersesting or unique railroad cars and locomotives. It's really a great museum, and the town of York is great too(Especially a walk through the old downtown area). If you ever make it over to England, I highly recomend going there. I somehow doubt you won't be totally unhappy, at least if you are into trains....... [;)]

Well guys, I guess I did make it on quickly this morning, but I can't stay long. I've got to go start loading up the car with the module and other things, as we are going to leave soon.

  • Hi all....I can't go railfanning, too much homework. Plus the fact that my parents have the camera...and I can't do much now becasue my computer is so screwed up, its resolution is something like 320x200. I think I have a virus. Richard, guess how long your sig is in my eyes? 3 screens long! What a piece of s*** I have here! I'm currently running anti-virus, hope it helps. I'd say more, but I think my computer is about to crash.

  • Hey everybody. I didn't manage to go railfanning today, but did pick up these four stills!! The SW1200 titled "ABC Railway", was getting fueled. ABC stands for Akron Barberton Cluster. Out of 93 miles of track, only three ABC's exist. Luckily, I spotted one today!!!!
Enterance to the W&LE Akron (Brittain) Yard:

One of the two W&LE "Kodachrome" paint schemes:

Look closely and you can see the old NS markings on nose and long hood:

This is the one mentioned above:

  • nice pics, Richard!
I figured out the resolution was 320x240, how's that for crappy? And 16 colours....at times I think it went to 4...but I finally got it somewhat fixed. Everything is still a bit pixelatted...
I tink I fa8iled my math exam, that really sucks.
I went to my public library today and picked up 6 CDs, it's a great resource! On the way there and back, my water bottle froze solid! Imagine how I feel without gloves!
Ah well, time to get on my physics homework...

  • Hey Matt

Remember we talked about the need for virus protection and a firewall a while back. Some ISPs include one or both in their normal pricing and you can purchase them if you don't have them included in your isp plan.

    Hey guys [:)]

Do any of you know of free virus protection or firewalls for Matt ? That is in case he is too cheap to pay for one. [8D] You may not use a credit card over the comp, but still, do you want some idiot to screw up your comp simply because he can. [B)] [:(] I read that in China, in some college computer courses, that in order to pass the class you must successfully hack into a computer in the USA.
Trust me, you would be surprised how many hacking attemps occur every few minutes. My firewall will allow me to check if I want to. I stopped checking because all it did was make me MAD to see how many attemps occurred. IF you do not have virus protection and a firewall, I highly recommend you get them ASAP.

Because of the good info that was in the previous topic (locked now [:(] ) I have copied and pasted this snow plow info here again for us to see.

Copied from previous Teen Railfan Thread :

    (Jim's reply in previous thread)

I have a vid about SP fighting snow on Donner Pass. They only bring out the rotaries when the flangers cannot handle the snow. Rotary snow plows were invented in the 1860s, but were not actually built until some time later. (I love history, especailly when it involves trains. )

Here is a link for more info.

Well, enjoy, a little reading never hurt anyone. And Matthew, English isn't that bad.

END of copy and paste. [:)]

Now let me say this [;)]

Welcome back Richard and James. I hope EVERYONE watches their posts so this thread doesn't get locked.

As I have said before, and many of you know, I am always available to help. Just email me. Many of you chat with me on AIM, some by snail mail (just got a super nice book today in the mail from Mitchell from Sask), and some by phone.

I can't wait for Matthew's forum to come back up, that is, IF it does. I have some "different" photos to post there. Matt and some others of you have already seen them. So, if you have not joined Matt's forum, maybe you should. [;)] [:D] (Hey Matt, do I get brownie points for the ad ? [:D] [:o)] [^] ) L O L

Well, guess I will walk Duchess and head to bed.

    See yall. [:)]

  • Hey guys,

I had an absolutely amazing day yesterday. As I think I've mentioned before, the module group I belong to is new, and I am helping to form it, although we already have about 18 member, and about 14 of those can be considered founding members(including me). Well, for the first time yesterday, we had the entire layout assembled, and it's 55 by 20 feet, and we actually ran trains! And more than that, I'm proud to say that my locomotive, WSOR 4025 by Athearn, made the very first lap!! We are well on our way to showing in February in Madison at the train show.

I also got my first decoder installed in a locomotive, thanks to one of the club members. It's the same locomotive as the one that made the first lap, WSOR 4025. You could kind of say I gave it a reward for running so well on the layout in DC mode, that I gave it an upgrade to DCC.

I am really happy right now that things went so well.
