  • Chase, Wow, awesome locomotive! And you definately earn brownie points for drawing a WC loco!

Chris, Where is WI are you going foaming?

Well guys, after many requests, I finally got photos of the module. Here it is, about halfway through the plastering stage.

    An over all shot:

Here's a shot of the low hills on the front of the module. Eventually rock castings will go on the vertical area. My Module is a transition module, where the number of mainlines goes from 2 to 3. That explains why there are only two tracks on the one end and three on the other:

This is where the turntable and the three track roundhouse will be located, if the ARK ever gets around to building it. [:)] It will be close whether or not I have the roundhouse itself finished for the train show in February. I should have most of the other buildings finished, but the roundhouse will be close:

This is where the yard office and little MoW shed will sit. I’ve already started construction on the yard office, and I should be done with that fairly soon:

Here is another overall shot from the other end. I will be hooking up to another member’s module from the track on the far left of the picture. This isn’t a standardized track, but since we are both modeling an engine facility we decided to intertwine them, and that way we can move cars and locomotives back and forth from module to module.

So there you have it; that is what I’ve done so far. The plastering is about halfway done, I still have to do a little work around the turntable, and that last piece of blue foam hill has to be glued down and covered with Woodland Scenic’s plaster cloth. And I have some rock castings to do. I tried to do a few test casting this morning, and they didn’t turn out to well. But, I went to MR’s “Dream, Plan, Build” DVD and figured out what I was doing wrong. I’m going to give the castings another go either tonight or tomorrow.

So what do you guys think? How am I doing? It’s not done by any means, but it’s getting there.

    Noah
  • Here they are. The first is the Piggy Back, the second is the stockcar, and third is my puppy.

I have 3 of each. They are nice aren't they?

  • Hello again. I need a break from my flatcar, so I will come here and say hello!

Colin- NICE STUFF man!!! Great dog, too! G scale is soooo cool!

Chase- wow, man, that's a heck of a drawing!

Noah, that module is GREAT [tup], you have some serious skills there man!!! You are going to a show in Febuary are you? What show is that, maybe my dad would be interested in going, and then we could meet in person! As far as railfanning goes, my dads friend has a place in Lake Geneva, so we will head out from there. We may railfan the Canadian National in the Duplaneville are, or try to see some Wisconsin and Southern! Know of any spots?

I also had a question- Noah, how is your expieience with railimages.net? are they a good site? I would love to show you guys my stuff!

I am off, but I will be back!
  • Chris, I really don't know a ton about the WSOR in Milwaukee. However I know you will do well in Duplainville for other trains. And the WSOR runs through there twice a day with the JH and the HJ, the HJ in the early morning and the JH in the late afternoon.

The WSOR does have their headquarters in North Milwaukee, but I don't remember exactly where it is other than it's on 35th street. They have a small yard a few blocks Due South of their headquarters too. There usually isn't a whole lot going on, but if you are in that area of Milwaukee anyway, it's worth a quick look see. I just wish I could remember where it is.....

Thanks for the compliments on the module! I really do appreciate them; it shows I'm doing something right when it comes to modeling.....

I will be displaying with a new modular group I am helping to form, the Southern Wisconsin Sandhouse Crew. We are displaying for the first time at the February Train show in Madison, the Mad City Model Railroad Show that's held at the Alliant Engery center every year, this year on February 18 & 19. If you are going to the show we will definitely have to meet. I’d like to meet some of the forum members I know at my module, to kind of show it off personally. I don't know exactly where we will be, other than we will be in a new section of the show upstairs in the Alliant Energy Center. When it gets closer I'll know when I'll be working the layout and we can maybe set a time to meet.

www.railimages.com is a really good site, easy to use and fairly reliable (they do go down every once and a while for a couple of days, but usually it's not bad). I would highly recommend setting up an account. It's a free site, although they do appreciate donations to help keep the site going. It's certainly not a necessity though.

There are a few "secret-handshakes" involved in posting photos on the forum from Railimages. Don't worry though, they aren't that big of a problem, and I can walk you through them.

The one thing about railimages is that you do have to keep most of your photos about railroads and Model Railroads. I don't think they mind the very rare non rail photo, but just so it doesn't happen too often.

You should get an account so you can post some of your Model photos! I’d like to see them.

  • Evening all.
Noah - I'm not going to lie. Your module is the most childish peice of tripe I have ever seen. It should be burned before it makes babies cry, car alarms go off and entire cities spontaneously burst into flame. Just kidding! But that felt good. It looks great! And I really can't wait to see it once you get some foliage down!
Richard - A CN SDP40? I didn't know they had them. Do you have pics? Also, I found your forum, and have joined! :P
Colin - Those cars look great! I especially like the gloss coat on the third one! :P
Now back to palying MSTS, I am having a blast with it today! (If only I could get the CP holiday train to work properly..)

Ill get a few more. And i know, what is a WC/SOO railfan drawing CSX, hehehehe, idk.
And CHRIS! You my friend, shall never call it Canadian National. For 2 reasons.

They suck, you call ALL places the Wisconsin Central.
And its not even called Canadian National anymore. Seriously, they ditched the name, its just initials.

  • Alec is right when it comes to CN's name. Offically they are known as CNIC ever since they joined merged/bought out Illinois Central. Or at least they are known as CNIC in the business world, as my Dad's company often makes Railroad Locomotive seats for them, and they deal with them as the merger name.

Thanks a bunch for the compliments on my module guys. I'm glad you all like it so far at least. I'd reserve full judgement until I get the final ground cover on though, as that's when you'll want to burn it.....

Well guys, I've got some rock casting to do, I'm going to get going.

    Noah
  • Yes I would do any thing for her!!! lol... I wish she would've came along about 5 or ten more years down the road so I could have more time to play with my trains! lol
  • No time, gotta go railfanning in Wisconin!
