TEEN RAILFAN PLACE-LET'S TALK TRAINS! Thread Locked

  • Rich- Yeah, my dad is really cool...he loves railfanning..which is good for me!!!!

Matt- GIT R DONE!!!! Nice shot on Railpics!!!!! CONGRATS!

Alex---- not cool man...Bergie, please do not let Alex's iommature behavior reflect the rest of us in the Teen Railfan Place.
  • Well, yesterday was a freakin' loss due to freakin' weather problems. It always has to rain right on Q!!! But alas, that is the weather in Ohio, wait 5 minutes and it'll change. But that doesn't count when you railfan. When railfanning it rains and doesn't stop!

Maybe today I will be heading up to Akron to catch some CSX "Under-the-bridge" action with my digital camera only. I don't feel like taping them today at all.

Oskar - That was cool enough that you saw those passenger cars with CSX. Were they for like the special "President Train" or whatever you call it that the F40's usually pull?

Chris - Well, if I haven't said this already, my mom likes railfanning and due to the recent move, she feels like resting and sitting there. Which obviously is good on my end. I also have a sleep-over coming up on 7/1-7/2 at my friend's.

On 7/8-7/9 he is sleeping over at my house for my b-day on 7/11 when I'll turn 14. Yes, I feel like I'm the youngest on here, LOL.

Alexander - Don't do that ever again. You may get this thread locked and this is the prime thread that I come to almost daily. It is ridiculous that it has had to come down to this. It is time to put this to an end.

You may eventually come back if you can handle the fact that people may not like some snide (spelling*) remarks that you make.

  • Well I feel much better that yesterday so I saw some trains.

I saw a CSX SD50-2 in CR paint with 2 Balfour Beatty Rail cars 1 was for track the other one was a box car, my 3rd NS SD70M-2 # 2700, and a ex SOO SD40-2 now FURX. The FURX had no AC and down in GA with the temperature at 88F no need AC heck I was in the truck and once we turned the air off I started sweating.

Rick- that was a track Geometry train the one in April is the Masters Train or ''Golf Train''. Also can you tell the rain to come down here we need it bad!.

Matt- I don't think we are going to see Alexander for a very long time after what he said to Erik or ''Bergie''.

Bergie- sorry about what happend hopefully we get this fourm cleaned up.

  • I got some kick-*** pics today. Once I get them uploaded, I'll post 5 pics a day.
  • Ah, now that was a good day! Got there at 9:15...had to wait half an hour to get a nose shot of the trolley because of some technical difficulties, and then I did eventually actually get to the railfanning doubleheaded steam at 10. [:D][:D] Unfortunately, I only got two pics of it (both on a testle) before they uncoupled at 11. That's when the REAL fun started. Set up in a few locations, got what will hopefully be a pretty awesome shot (Too bad it wasn't steaming much at the time..) took 25 or so pics, and the sun only went behind a cloud once!
I'll probably got back tomorrow and tool around with my wide-angle and telephoto lenses some more.

  • Heres the first five

  • i finally have a firm grasp on what goes on in Altoona. oh joyous day. i stay there till very late now, but i almost always see the triple crown trailer train come through. comes by around 9:00 PM. and the bike ride home is a pain. but it's worth it. just to get pics of those sweet SD70Ms. i also had the honor of seeing an SD40T-2. i'm sure it was ex SP. well i'll likely be back out there tomorrow night waiting for that train. i finally feel like a true railfan again. there's just something about the sound a train booking at 60 mph makes when it whooshes past you. i love it! andf the SD70M has the coolest sounding horn i have ever heard. boy i wish i recorded that thing. only problem with Altoona is that the mixed freights have no fixed schedule. it's always random when they come. meaning they show up when i'm not there. but lately the yard's been more full. perhaps traffic on that line is increasing. i would love that![:D]

that's my railfanning update. check out my rrpicturearchives album to see the shots i took and the cool neon effect on the SD70Ms

  • Evan - so you live in Iowa? I always thought that you were northwest of that, like in Minnesota or something, but then again, why would you like the Illinois Central that way?

Oskar - I am heading out to Berea today to catch the usual NS and CSX trains. Hopefully my favorite CSX e-bounds (Q164 and Q110) will be fast today.

I've been reading around here and you guys say that 55 mph is really fast? Well track speed on CSX here in Berea 70-75 mph. They nearly blow you off of your feet. You have to be careful while using a tripod.

Anyways, Oskar, the NS 3329 has been up around my area lately, like in Cleveland and in Bellevue and even in Fostoria. NS 3329 was south though near West Virginia though on 6/12/06.

I believe that it is now heading north again to Ohio. It seems to hang around the Bellevue Hump Classification Yard(s) alot.

Have you seen any sightings on a NS "25 Years of Safety and Service" Dash 9 lately. I really want to get a photo of one of those or at least a MRL SD40-2. I haven't seen one of them since 7/10/05.

  • Lord Atmo, do you know what days the Westbound road railrailer goes through Altoona? One of these days I want to catch the wesbound roadrailer some evening over Near Adams or Dalton on the Adams Sub. I live over in the area, so it's not a real far jog away, but I just really don't know his schedule. Any help you (or you too Keats, if you're out there!) can provide would be appreciated.

  • Hello! I smell some fresh air, oh, cuz a certain member is gone! And your little "oh i will be back" crap is just gonna fuel the fire. NO ONE LIKES YOU HERE!

Chris, hope you had a blast trackside. Anything out of the ordinary?
Richard- Ya, once in a blue moon my mom will take me railfanning. But it just isnt as fun if they sigh all the time, and just act like they would rather die. I know what you mean.

Well nothing new here, going to the Back to the 50's car show today. Then having a buddy sleep over. So no railfanning.
