  • Yes, but that paint takes a while.

  • Plus you have to remember this is a small contract shop on the WSOR. When they do the Heritage units, they do Solely the heritage units, but even then it can take them close to a week to do a specialty paint scheme like this. Plus it usually takes the WSOR a day or two on each end to ship the unit to the interchange point in the Milwaukee area. If it's a standard scheme they can paint them quick, but with something like the Heritage unit, it takes a while to do properly.

  • Rick- Yes they are but its going to be awhile before they get done. Its not going to be a normal paint job that is easy like the YN2,YN3,UP,FEC,WSOR paint jobs and are going to take pride and time in painting this SD70ACe.

  • Some peopel (myself included) think UP is only doing these heritage units to cash in on model RR companies making CNW, SP, WP, DRGW stuff. heck- the new Atlas CGW S1 is a UP licensed product.
  • Dingoix, your proably right.
    But that is buisness
  • True. It's a pretty sneaky way to cash in on that, tho.
  • Yup. But that is buisness
  • Kevin, Can I ask where you got the info that the UP 8522 was at Horicon? I did a trace on the unit today, and it is still in Proviso in Chicago, reported there on Wednesday June 21, so it's definately not up there yet anyway. I suppose it might be on it's way though. I'll keep a trace on it every few days and see where it goes.

  • Alexander - what is with you and saying that everything about UP is "just business?" You're kind of like saying that they should repaint or never make models of any of their proud Heritage railroads.

Oskar - Seriously, how did you find out all of this knowledge about the CNW? Was it from the diesel shop? When is it shcduled to leave the Horicon and Milwaukee area? When and where will it be unveiled?

I might head out to Akron to railfan a little bit tomorrow. Usually Friday afternoon's are fair on this line although you never know with CSX's "New Castle Sub." On Saturday, I will probably head out to Greenwich, OH to catch CSX action.

On Sunday I will probably head up to the usual spot, Berea, OH to catch more CSX and NS action. Can't wait to see trains again! Haven't seen one since 6/15.

Why should i not be able to express my opinion, just because some guy dissagrees with them?

  • STOP!!!

No, no, no, no, no!!! We're not going down this road again. Max just tried to tell you guys we can't do this again, Bergie explained the whole thing a few pages back, and about 5 other people have been telling you guys to stop, but no one seems to listen! Just drop the subject and start on something else, or go somewhere else to argue! I'm sick of all of this bickering. Just get along already, or at least just ignore each other!!!
