TEEN RAILFAN PLACE-LET'S TALK TRAINS! Thread Locked

  • hello gents, I been away for a while, I just glad there is a forum left to post on!

I've been out of railroading for a while but I made my grand return this weekend; I met my girlfriend halfway in Lancaster, PA (took Amtrak out there) and was able to convince her to let me shoot a little Rockville and Heresy, I try to have the shots on RP.net soon.

Maybe. But you need a MILW Class S3 4-8-4 (aka. #261) except nobody makes one! If BLI ever makes one I'm gonna get one.
  • Chris - Wow, look at all those shots of WSOR...I think you're officially in their favorites circle! Put in a good word for me, eh? [;)]
Evan - Your pacific looks great! Now to apply those skills to the GP38-2, eh? [:p]
Now I must get back to studying...chem final tomorrow...and then, FINALLY, like the rest of you, I'M FREE!

  • Matt, lol- I hope it turns out good. for those of you who don't know, I'm painting an IANR GP38-2. I made the mistake of painting the yellow stripes on the long hood. I ordered decals today (both stripes and letters) and I think I can decal over the painted-on stripes and make it look ok.

James, http://cgi.ebay.com/Overland-Models-Milwaukee-Road-4-8-4-HO-NIB-260-1577-1_W0QQitemZ6065349695QQihZ009QQcategoryZ484QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Man, that's nice. I want one BAD.
  • And at almost $400....I'd hold your breath for a BLI model to come out.
On the bright side, SCHOOL IS FINALLY OVER!!
I don't know how you guys managed to get out so much earlier, but with my chem exam this morning, I'm out for good. (Well, until September) And the chem final was DREADFULLY easy. I couldn't believe it! Here I was, worrying about my lack of knowledge of carboxylic acids, esters and admino acids, when the hardest question in the organic chem section is "Give the IUPAC name for this compound" (multiple choice) And it was just plain ol' 2,4,4-trimethyl pentane. Not even a double bond to spea of!
So this afternoon I went railfanning a bit. Saw 3 GP38-2s all in fresh beaver paint (I'll admit that when it's fresh it looks darn good!) and 3 other Gp38-2s. (And some almost-not-worthy-of-mention AC4400s), The river was down, so I biked around the island some more. Unfortunately, the ford was waist deep and I shorted my ocketwatch...then I heard a train while I was on a pedestrian bridge, so I did one of the quickest lens changes in history and got a pic. (This was the 3-beaver train)
I chased it west (fell off my bike twice because of wet, broken sandals)(ouch) but managed to slowly pass it over a couple miles. There I met up with another train, also with GP38-2s, some in multimark. I watched the first train switch for about fourty-five minutes, then went home to bleed somewhere clean. (Railfanning after crashing the bike three times...not that fun)
So all in all I took something like 7 or 10 pics, got some nasty cuts on my right foot, lots of skeeter bites (I HATE that swamp!) and a few cloudy, telephoto shots of some of CP's best power.
    I'll take that day.

  • C&NW fans

If you have not heard UP 8522 is the CN&W 1995. Is at WSOR Horicon now ready for paint.

  • Matt, at least you saw the best locomotive ever made- the GP38-2.
I heard a train today. (powered by GP38-2s, of course)(I'm several miles from IANR tracks)
Latest pics of my GP38-2 BTW, decals (generic letters and stripes) are on the way

I also discovered that an Athearn GP38-2 and GP40-2 shells are interchangeable, so I can put a 38-2 shell on my 40-2. Sure the 40 has a longer fuel tank, but who cares?

  • Looks good Evan.
