We have the SD70ACe here in australia. BHP Billiton owns the , and uses them on the Mt. Newman mining line. We also have SD40, And 2 F9, of whitch are currently withdrawn. we also have several other GE trains, whitch i couldn't be bothered to list. oh, heck, i will and i will compare them to our aussie built 80's 82's 90's and NR's.

Oh, we've more than jsut heard of them, and I believe that they're beyond the testing stage by now. I read an MR article on them in November 2004, and saw my first one enarly exactly a year later, CP 8701. There sure are a lot of them around....

Well, anyways, nothing new today. When I was out watering the plants a few minutes ago, I heard the New Hope & Ivyland's steamer #40, and the C30-7. I haven't heard the GP30 in a while.
I may be going to the New Hope & Ivyland's shops to check out if they have done anything more to the steamer that is being restored. It is a 2-8-2 Mikado.

Nope, they weren't used because they weren't commonly around, although a few prototypes could be found in WWII. At that time mainly Steam Engines were in use, an entirely different type of locomotive. Diesels really didn't gain popularity until the 1950's, in what is know as the Transition era. That was when most mainline steam was faded out and first Generation Diesels came into popular use.

What-up everyone? I am just stopping by quick today.

Since my mom is coming home from Texas at 11 pm tonight (airport is less than a mile from my favorite Hotspot) - I will be spending the time from about 5-10:30 pm there.

Then, tomorrow is another short-term trip to Pennsylvania overnight at none other than the "Horseshoe Curve." I will love it there, I just know. And for those of you who don't know about the Curve, it is NS tracks and is obviously a big loop. It hosts helper units at the end and middle - not too much in the middle anymore.

Anyways, so I'm excited, I hope I see something rare....

Altoona is great, but tomorrow the mesuem will be your best bet, rain forcasted all weekend (and week for that matter). Thats too bad because this is my last weekend in Pittsburgh. Whats more, I was gonna stop at Altoona, Cumberland and Rockville on my way home but no reason to now....

The evolutionm series is GE's "ACe" ... it is a loco. that matches the Teir2 emmisions standard........so do you see SD70ACe?..........YES.......who has better sales.......GE.........SO Of course you will see the evolution in service on multipal r.r.s[;)]
