Hard to navigate? If you want to talk about model trains, you go the forum on the appropriate(spelling) scale. If you want to talk about locomotives, you go the the appropriate forum. If you want to talk about a class one, you go to the appropriate forum, and so on and so on. What praytell is so hard about that.

Because of the incredible amount of effort it takes to find that particular forum, unless you've got the order memorized, you've got to read the title of every forum until you find the right one. Remember, just because you know where to post everything doesjn't mean that you know where everything is.

  • Alas, I'm back and man, you won't believ what I saw today! NOTHING!!!!!! ^%*&%^&*&(&*@#@#!!!! That freakin' New Castle Sub.! How should I have known? How could I have trusted that line? Pluss, my parents took quicker than expected. Urrr, well, there's always next time....

One good thing is, is that my mom is taking a three-day business trip to Texas on Wednesday. Leaving me and my dad with some "quality" time, if you know what I mean. He knows what I like to do, railfan, so that's going to be our quality time.

    .................

BTW-My photos were rejected both for Cloudy, common angle shots of common power. The first one I can agree with, the second I have no clue what they're talking about...

I'm not sure why you guys are so focused (ha!) on shutter speeds; I've never found anything above 1/500 to be necessary yet, and can even manage with 1/125 on cloudy days and/or with slow trains.

And is ghosting a good thing in this case?

That's because of a low aperture (f/stop). It's called depth of field; the higher you go in f/stops, the less light gets into the camera, but also the more background is in focus.

Eh, a UP train with a number symbol? CN Train 118 is an intermodal train and probably the one you mean.

It was not a intermaodal. Plus the dipatcher on my radio even said it was 118. Plus my dad was waiting for train 340 which was wiating for train 118. The lead locomotive was a Union pacific SD40-2 going into Pokegama yard which is owned by the CN. UP's yard can be interchanged with the CN so this is were the unit probably came from.

  • John, it's totally ACe. AC for Alternating Current, remember?
Richard - that's the way the wafer crumbles, eh? [:p] If I had a nickel for every time I've been railfanning without there being a train, I'd be able to buy an athearn blue box freight car. I have a roll of film which needs taking in , but there's nobody to take it in... [:(]

  • Well, UP does not have any trains using number symbols. Perhaps it was run-through power or power-by-the-hour.

Also, there are about 25 SD45s left.
  • Yes, i know, someone gave me bad info. Home sick today......

Well, they obviously do, because it has been confirmed by numerous CN employees that the train WAS indeed Union Pacific train I.D #118.

JAMES!! I FOUND OUT WHERE THE #6050 WENT!!! IT WENT TO POKE! And guess what!? Not only did we miss your dad, we missed RENGO! While we were getting Chocolate Brownie Batter Blizzards at D.Q, The 6050 was going under the BNSF coal train, which had started by then. Kent was SITTING in Saunders waiting!! SITTING! We also missed a welded rail train break, and a tie train. And an ACe. ANDDDDDDDD, the #206 never made it into Poke. Guess what else? CN's got the two SDM's working Poke instead of the two Tunnels now....

  • Richard- correct 2 days ago I turned 14. I got a Rochelle DVD and a TRAINZ 2006 game. It has a CR SD70M. I kinda wet my pants in Best Buy when I saw a NS ''Catfish'' # 9253(Operation Lifesaver unit) leading a CR C40-8W and another NS on a coal train. I saw your pic of 4630 good one if you see 4634 or 4636 take a couple of pics it made history. My freind David Younts who is a engineer in Raleigh,NC wrecked that one on a record breaking train. He was pulling a Operation Lifesaver Special and a tractor traylor pulled infront of him and wrecked the truck, engine, and 2 coaches. total 150,000 dollars in damage. He got a coffe mug for being in the crash. After 15 years that day no OL train has been in some kind of wreck or derailment well until that day.

Nein, 's still not working. Have you checked the IP bans? I'm pretty sure that's what it is.
As for the train situation - CP Rail main line - 20-30 trains a day - I've seen 6 in an hour I've seen none in 5. That's the way it goes...have to take the lumps with the good. Like how I saw 2816 (Saw? Sorta...)
