BTW, you can go up to 1/250 second shutter speed if you want to and do you think that would be good.

It says in the manuel, that you can freeze raindrops with this camera. I'll have to see it to believe it.

I use 1/125th and 1/250th most of the time, and I'm not blaming the blurryness of my pics on that yet, I still have no proof for any single reason for it.
I think that raindrops can't possibly be moving that fast, and I have my suspicions that you could get a pretty sharp pic of one on as slow as 1/500th (Not me of course, in a rainstorm I'd be lucky to get above 1/250th at f2.8)
Tommy, I like the sound of that! Now all you need is the Hungry Horse logging company layout from 101 track plans for model railroaders to run it on! [:p]

is a four-stroke engine used according to Rudolf Diesel

Also how come in a two-stroke engine cycle theirs only a intake valve i cannot find the exhaust valve.

In the past EMDs were 2 cycle engines however the new GM16V265 is a 4 cyclinder. GEs are 4 cyclinder and Alcos were also 4 cyclinder.

I am sorry, did you mean four cycle? I don't think those locomotives have four cyclinders. I would think they would have more than that. I believe the locomotives today are two cycle engines since they are a more efficient diesel engine.

Anyway I know I have not been on here much but.............. I have been a busy person.
First I have been railfanning with my new camera. A Nikon Film camera. Really nice!!!! Takes awesome pictures. I will post some when I have the chance.
Second I have been building my module layout and it is finally up. I have built a small yard for it and I will be taking it to model railroad conventions.
Otherwise nothing new.. Hoping to be going railfanning tomorrow.

  • Well i think it is about time i break my silence, and talk. I was at my fathers place over easter, and it is was the weekend steamfest was on. i enjoyed this a lot. i got some pics, but they are on film. i got an athearn U30 C, but being me, i took i's shell off, and screwed it up, bigtime. i also lost the little black thingys that transfer the power to the gears on the trucks, so i have majorly screwed it up. i also snapped off one of those littkle things that comes out of the flywheel. i don't know what i will do, but i have been on the athearn website, and i know i can get a new motor, but those gear thinigys, sorry for being so vauge, i can't find on the athearn website.

school has been usual, but not too much homework.

i got a copy of model railroader magazine, and i thouroughly enjoyed it.

Not much else, except i don't normally screw up engines, i don't know what happend.

  • well I'm back for a day of trains, travling, and a anoying brother. and the interview with the engiener went great! puls I got to ride in the cab of engien #1 the deisle engien they had running, 2 times and I even got to drive it!!!!! along with that I got to see the 3 steam engiens they had there 2 Baldwins both are 0-4-0s. #8 and #7 sisten locos. but they can used them because of all the geulation on steam locos but really both of them are opperational.. and #4 that one is also a 0-4-0 but is smaller the the 2 baldwins. and the shed's roof that they are stored in is partly hed up by #7's cab roof. but what is even butter is that the engiener that I rode with in the cab on the first trip invited yes you read right invited me to go there the saturday of Mamorial day weekend and ride in the cab of engien 4 the live steam engien they have in use!!!!!! and I left there with a spike and the back side of my jeans greased up really good. form the window of the engien cab I used as a seat. don't worry there was a small storage cabinate that I actually sat on with my legs out the window.
also my mom my brother and me stoped at a book store after and I got a CD of CLASSIC TRAIN SONGS!!!!!!!!!! 20 of the no doubt. Wabash Cannonball is the title.. and Atlas of North American Railroads....

  • Sorry for my absence in replying to your questions, I actually spent the night down in southern Ohio, by West Virginia, so I wasn't able to be here.

Noah - My new camera covers all 35 mm lenses and my optical zoom is 3x. My digital zoom is 5x. Not the best, but hey, beats my old camera, check these photos out:

    http://unicapital.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=365216

    Using optical zoom:

    http://unicapital.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=365205

I really love my new camera, it serves me well, here is an example of my night shot:
    http://unicapital.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=365253
Not the greatest (like I said) but it still beats my 3.2 mp camera. My new as I mentioned has 8.1.

    Oskar - Saw NS 4630 (GP59 - Operation Lifesaver : http://unicapital.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=365210)

And RJ Corman, as one of the photos shows above. Along with Wheeling-Pittsburgh steel mill switchers:
    http://unicapital.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=365267 (such as this one)

And an NS Dash 9, SD70M-2, SD40-2 nd MT6 pulling one train. No shots [V].

  • WEllllllllllllllllllllllllllll, James and I went railfanning today, and we saw:
THE BURLINGTON NORTHERN HIGHNOSE SD9 WE WERE ALL TALKING ABOUT!!!! (pics later) Then a BNSF GEVO at Allouez, then a CN train #340, with the trailing unit beaten to death wearing four or five different paint schemes at once...then we chased it as it was being operated by two volunteers at our museum, then we saw Union Pacific train #118, which was being operated by the same engineer we saw running it around 3 weeks ago. Then we saw a BNSF coal train with DPU FLOORED!! We raced them to Bolyston and the actually kept up with us!! At 55 MPH!!
Then we saw the new BNSF MP15DC repaint, and a secerly tagged BNSF GP30, and some yard power.
Then on the way back, we saw 3 DMIR SD38-2's backing onto a limestone train.
Then we heard another SD38-2 #206 coming into M&J JCT heading for Pokegama.
    Well thats about it...
    WAIT!!
We saw the Lake Superior and Mississippi (tourist line) 45 TONNER switching cars into a industry...ITS A TOURIST LOCOMOTIVE THOUGH........Maybe leased...
    well thats about it..

Well first my cat comes down with an illness of some sort so I have been in and out of the vet's office for a week. Then my cousin (who was supposed to come into the shop this weekend) called in sick, and I know that he really wasn't, so I have to work all weekend to make sure that all the orders are met on time.

Add to that my girlfriend wants to go on a date that she has been planning but didn't mention to me until yesterday. Yeah my weekend of trains and the great outdoors has been shot down.[:(!][V]
  • Guess what my cus gets for his birthday next weekend. I'll give you a hint, it starts with the vulger name of the behind and ends with kicking.
