Oskar - When did CSX paint the 7599 in Dark Future? I don't remember you mentioning this one, also, when I asked about Dark Future C40-8Ws, I mean't the ones that CSX ordered, which obviously is the 7846 and 7870. I have seen the 7926 (ex - LMS).

Another question - alas! When is the # 23 going to revived? And is the 7770, 7803 or 7520 ever coming back?

Rick- I do not know when 7599 got painted.

CSX 23 got in a BAD wreck in the late 90's and CSX decieded not to fix it maybe beacuse of money and now is probaly scraped. CSX 7770 was also in a wreck and is now on UP 9274. However 9274 crashed and burned in 1995 then renumberd to 9412. http://buylow.com/bigtoys/rail/micro.html utahrails.net/all-time/all-time-71.htm . the 2nd one did not work. 7520 I do not know about but probaly wrecked and scraped. CSX 7803 same thing but I think it hasn't been that long before its been retired I belive I've seen it somewhere and its after 4/28/01 thats the only pic I found out of 2 searched on www.ask.com . The last pic of 7803 on RP is 8/14/04.

Would disspoisable work fo close up shots because there is a resturant right next to active rr tracks I have seen 3-4 trains there over the past year but I always hear them at night . And 2 I have seen in broad day light.

The quailty of a disspoisable camera would be equally poor at night, or day, or anytime at all. Dissopisable cameras are a waste of time. I know you think they're a great deal becuase their so cheap, but if all I had to use was a disspoisable camera, I wouldn't take any pictures.

I'm telling you now, don't waste your time. Because when you get a descent camera down the road, you'll see that the quality of your dissopisable shots are so poor that you might as well not have taken them in the first place.

I agree with jdirelan, don't even bother spending a penny on a Disposable, it's entirely not worth it. At least get a basic Digital, although the better the camera, the better your shots will be. Of course this also means more dollars. But, when you add up the costs of all the Disposable cameras you may buy over the course of a few years, you're probably half way to buying a decent digital anyway. Then add in Film Processing fees and you're even closer to the price of the camera.

Actually, film is not on the way out. Look at Kales sig pic. That was taken with film.

I have a camera that uses film now. A nikon MB-10.
Pretty nice camera. I can take really nice pics with it.
(BTW Max when I went to my secret spot, Dan and I saw a Ore train come down the hill and the second locomotive in the consist was an SDM. Got a pic of it. Pretty cool to watch those locomotives in Dynamic brake notch 8 come down the hill.[:D])
You can buy these cameras for about 400 dollars on ebay. Maybe a bit more money than you had expected but it is really nice.
Anyway glad you like the explanation Farraris. If there is something else you need explained let me know.

I have a buddy that used Film. And Max, it is on its way out, just many people like the film because they are used to it. Film can still take great shots, no doubt about it, and i much prefer to be on my floor with the albums spread out and looking at shots than going into a folder on the computer. But, my digital takes great shots *needs more zoom* and im quite satisfied.

Well now that I think of it my dad does have a regular film camera that we took up to Mt Katadin. The photos that the camera takes are really nice could I use that?

Max, Your right there are still some great shots taken with film, and it probably won't die out totally or anything. I just compare Film to BetaMax or Even VHS, it's going slowly out, although it probably won't ever die completely as long as they can get the film processed.

Model Train Lover, You probably could use the film, and if money is an issue then I would use your Dad's camera, but otherwise try for a Digital. But some nice shots can still be had with a film if it's a quality camera (but just stay away from a disposable!)

Those are definately nice shots, and a great subject too! I have a friend who grew up with slide film and shot it exclusively up until about a week ago. I finally convinced him that he needed a Digital, and he went for a Nikon one. It's a really nice camera, and it takes great shots too. They are really up to par with his film shots, and he's got a lot of those too.

Well guys, I won't be around most of the weekend. I've got another show to display at with My module group starting tomorrow. It's a much smaller show, infact I doubt we'll get more than a couple thousand people over the whole weekend, but it should be fun just to set up and run the layout. Hopefully I'll have some pictures again at the end of it.
