  • Hey all, my phpbb forums are being reborn on proboards.com . So come check them out! I think these ones will be more of a success. These already seem to be going well. It isn't complete yet but here's the address:

It has three categories so far, and my old forums are closing. I hope this new forum draws more attention to the community. Hope to see you there!!

    Thanks!

    ...............

P.S.)- It's still an eastern railroad based forum though.

  • And besides trains that come through hear are eather durring school at 10pm, or when I do see one I don't have a camera on me.....

  • Rule #1: When near a rail line in even mediocre light, ALWAYS plan ahead and bring a camera!

Richard - joined your forum, hope it does better than the last one, eh?

Alec - Oh yes, BEFORE school, I had a spare first thing so I didn't have to be there until 10! So I got up at 6, and was out shortly before dawn. One main reason I had for torturing myself by getting out that early was that the light was absolutely PERFECT, now a cloud in the sky! although I don't think that my power was as good as yours...

  • Nice to meet you max. MY name is Tim
  • Definately stay away from the disposable camera, it will do you nothing but trouble. Plus, as much as many people don't like to admit it, Film is on it's way out, and Digital is pretty much king now. I just got a friend of mine with over 35 years of railroad experience and more than that experience shooting rail photos over to digital, and I don't think he'll ever go back.

If you can convince the parents, get the best Digital you can. You want something with a pretty good megapixel size (like 4-6). And stay away from Digital zoom. It absolutely ruins the quality of the photos. Look for one with an optical zoom or no zoom at all, but just not Digital zoom.

Good luck on convincing the parents, I know it's not easy. It took me a while to get them convinced, but they eventually came over.....
