I like the shot of the yard tracks best

Another tough choice. Exhibit 1 had the two railroad men bundled up apparently walking toward their engine while another was at work nearby. Exhibit 2 had an engine with snow on the ground and what looked like some blowing snow or freezing rain. Since I thought Exhibit 2 more closely captured the theme due to the snow cover, I voted for it.

It definitely had to be Exhibit B for me. I suppose that I am partial to CP, but even if it was a different roadname, I'm sure I would have voted for it. Exhibit A is an interesting and bsy shot, but B is just so well composed and portrays its subject very flatteringly.

I chose exhibit B. It looks more "Trains Magazine." Exhibit A looks more "Newsweek."

I found it interesting that A looks better in the small view and B looks better in the large mode. I think that is because A is a total scene shot while B is a locomotive shot. I think the cool thing about B is the snow in the headlamps and the angle of the locomotive, but it is finally just a picture of a locomotive. Picture A works on several levels. In addition to the just being picture of trains or a train yard, it has two loco's, two men, and bascially two yards, but they aren't in symetrical sets. The position of the "twins" gives the picture life and keeps the eyes looking all over the entier frame for "other things". The item that sort of ruins A is the small truck in the center top. It needs a twin too, nose to tail would have been ideal.

I loved both exhibits, but I like how Exhibit A shows the railroad at work, not just a roster shot.

I like yard shots, esp B/N, This one is very nice. I work one block from the B/N main line in Springfield Mo, and hear the thunder of the Loco's all day. great job!

Being a Santa Fe fan, it was hard not voting for A.

I selected B because it captured the head light beams shimmering off the snow flakes in front of the unit. Nice shot

Definitly like the yard shot better. I spent numerous hours in yards and hardly seen two locomotives with consecutive numbers next to each other.

Now back to "Trackside - Vol. 44:
OK guys it's the battle of the Titans again! Both of your photos are very good and convey the spirit of the theme (Railroads at work under harsh conditions, i.e. winter) making the choosing of a winner a difficult proposition. I finally had to choose Exhibit "A". Photo "A" had much more going for it by having the inclusion of the "human element", namely the trackside workers. I enjoyed the composition (e.g. the symmetry of the shot, the rails in the background also add much to the photo. In summary, nice work! [:D]
