Had to go with Photo #1. Probably the thing that swayed me was the way that the perspective of the train truly did go down to a point. However the yard shot was also really interesting. I'm really glad that you have gone back to "blind voting", I always have fun trying to guess who's photo is who's.

GO PHOTO #2, GO! That yard shot is awesome, with the BN and ATSF units, better than some unibrow NS that will be around until the cows come home and I'm stuffed and mounted...no wait...that NS is a GE, so it will be in the weeds at the shop before I know it! Both are awesome pix in composition!

I'd take a whiteface BN over an NS roadrailer anyday. Photo# 2 was my pix.

Both of you generally take excellent shots, and this time is no exception. It's hard to choose most times. Went with #2 this time because it's something you don't see everyday.

This week two great shot nice job thumbs up to both Erik and Mike. So can I split my vote[?][:)] I know the answer so NS Triple Crown got my I vote, I just like it[^]

I like photo 2 the best. Something about the fact that when one makes the photo bigger, you can see the hundreds of cars scattered throughout the yard, and it is rare you see a shot like this. Whoever took it, please share where this is from when the voting is over!!

This week's pictures were the hardest for me to decide on so far as the short time I've been doing this. To me both shots are excellent! But I had to choose one, and this week I went with picture #2. The reason that I chose #2 is because it kept on drawing me back to it. There is so much to see in it . #1 one is a beautiful picture and I enjoy it alot also, but #2 got my vote. ( On another note, I like that I don't Know who shot the pictures before I vote. Some how it seems more challeging).

Ahh!

Such A tough choice.

Chose Pic 1 for the long train of Triple Crown Trailers, But I could go for Pic 2 easily.

By the way I have a question to ask, why did BN or BNSF convert from horizontal cab to vertical nose headlights?

I see a similar train(photo #1) pass my house everyday on it's way to Roanoke as I live just across the street from a Northfolk/Southern mainline here in New Castle,IN. I voted for photo #2 because I love rail yards & would love to tour one if it was ever possible. Viglante6646

Wow, likely the most difficult choice of shots so far!!

The craze of a yard filled with cars and an engine smack in the middle against my favorit intermodal equipment, the roadrailer in beautiful setting.
Would have choosen both, but my vote went to picture one.

I really liked both photo's but the fall colors is what did it for me. I voted for photo number 1

Pic 1 surely is a beautiful autumn color shot, and I also love that NS paint job with their 'reversed Ferrari' logo.

However, I have seen so many 3/4-train-along-the-straight-track shots, that my vote goes to picture #2. Finally a change of perspective! Thanks, Eric or Mike - railroads are more than mainlines!

Both photos are good and even though I prefer NS over BNSF, photo No.2 had a better perspective from higher up creating a more interesting view. You know what business people say is their number one rule. The same applies to photography. I hope both of you keep submitting such good train photos for those of us that don't have access to any rail locations. Stay safe and out of the clutches of the tunnel-vision guys.

My vote to #2. Love the BN whiteface up front and all the yard action. Big-time America at its best, working hard. And, being from Pittsburgh, I get tired of seeing the black NS units all the time. But, #1 still got careful consideration because fall is my favorite season! Nice work on both photos guys! Russ
