IF YOU COULD BRING BACK ANY FALLEN FLAG...

  • Here's another for the CNW.
  • BC Rail in 1987. That was before GE C40-8Ms replaced all the M630s, M420s, and some RS18s. They also had SD40-2s with four ditchlights.[:D]
Second would be the Wisconsin Central, and CP Rail of the 1980s, before Candy Apple Red, and AC4400s.

Building the CPR Kootenay division in N scale, blog here: http://kootenaymodelrailway.wordpress.com/

  • I would have to go with the Gulf Mobile & Ohio. Of course, their beautiful red and burgandy would now adorn modern road power such as SD-90s.
  • I'd resurect the Chicago, Aurora, and Elgin electric railway, and all the woodies would still reign on "The Great Third Rail".
  • It would be the Rutland, since I never got to see it in person. I was lucky enough to experience Lehigh Valley, Delaware & Hudson, Boston & Maine,Lackawanna and New York Central. I did see Green Mountain RS1 405 in a patch relettering job at A Steamtown railfans weekend ,too long ago. It had the effect of making me wish I'd really seen the Rutland.
  • So Many roads ... So little space to list them all!

OK, if I could take the liberty of listing some, rather than one, they would be:

    1) Northern Pacific [:D]
    2) Great Northern
    3) CB&Q
    4)C&NW
    5) IC
  • I'd bring back Southern. I bet they would still stick with the high hood's.
  • 1. Santa Fe
    2. Southern Pacific

    Cliff
  • B&O - reopen the route from Cumberland to Saint Louis
  • Texas Mexican...just so not all trains I see would have to be UP!!!
  • Well lets see.............................CHESSIE SYSTEM.............Gotta love that painted cat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I'll throw in a third vote for the ol' Frisco!

If I could have a second choice, too, it'd be the MoPac.
  • I have to say Atlantic Coast Line!!! They all but OWNED the South East. And what better/sharper colors could you have then the old Purple and Silver. There's no line out there that could compete with that paint scheme.

I remember those cars well, my first train ride was aboard the CA&E. I too would very much have liked to see the old CA&E preserved. However, even if it had been, I'm sure the wooden cars and even the steel cars would have been raplaced. Most of the charm would have been lost long ago.
