We had a half day at school today, and the Publications Department just got new equipment this morning, so I get out of school, grab some McDonald's, and head out to the interchange with the UP Peoria Sub at Nelson.
I'm parked in the entrance to a gravel road. About thirty yards down from there is a UP No Tresspassing sign, with a gate across the road. My assumption is that I'm on public property.
A track gang drives down the road, and as they stop at the gate to unlock it, I ask if I should move my car, just to cover my butt. "Oh sure, you're fine there!" says the driver.
About ten minutes later, the MOW trucks start swarming like flies down this road. A gruff guy (I presume a foreman, because he had about 4 or 5 guys in his truck) parks the truck and tells me to come move the car. 'The first guy said it was fine there,' I said. His reply was, "You know I should turn you in for being on railroad property!" Talk about mixed signals. I think he was just steamed up because of the bad rail he had to get replaced on the eastbound track. Well, apparently the track is opened back up, cause I just heard a horn. Of course, as soon as I get home, and now I have to go to my French Class at the community college. The lesson of my story is, I guess, don't trust anybody! LOL[|(][|(][|(]

  • Hey, I'm Richard Thompson and I'm 13! I like model railroading, but real trains enthuse me more. I like mainly CSX and NS along with all the leasers and whats left of Conrail. BNSF and UP are pretty cool, but they're western giants and I'm from the east. My hobby is going to major or unknown hotspots and filming trains until my hearts content. Although I do occasionally take snap shots.

Sorry to hear that, yes I have had some s**ty expeiriences too, don;t let it bug you.

RICHARD WELCOME , GLAD TO HAVE YOU ABOARD[:D]

Matt, check your e-mail about the picture
  • Never once have I had a problem. But there's always a few bad apples in the bunch...or bad cigars in the box, if you want to continue the vague Churchill references(LOL!). I don't care, I talked to one of the property owners who has a hundred yard clearing along the south side of the tracks, and they're cool with me being there as much as I want...no more worries about trespassing! F.U.U.P!

  • You guys all have a good day, I know I will! Last day of school in the week, then we have tomorrow off! I'm planning on going to Rochelle, then buying a new scanner in the afternoon. Oh, almost forgot to welcome Richard.
    Welcome!
And the rest of you old-timers, back to work!

  • Where are you going for the scanner? Sounds like you will have a good time! I hope your weather is better than ours, I feel really crappy, and there is a lot of crusty snow on the ground, and a lot of ice on the roads. *Sigh*
Ging to see a play in school today, and the playhouse is right beside the CPR main! Last time I went, though, there were no cars in the yard, which I've never seen before! Saw a WB intermodal as we were coming out, pretty sweet!

  • Hey guys,
I see I'm the only one around tonight, but oh well, I'll talk to that bush over there.......

I'm going to have a good weekend again, I can see it all ready. I've got a half day of school tomorrow, out at 1:10PM, and then I've got Monday off!!! So I'm going to work on the module again, and hopefully get a little farther again. My goal is to get the rough terrain and some of the ground cover in. I'm also hoping to get to Madison on Saturday, to get some stuff from the local hobby shop, like weathering chalks and plaster, as well as Great Model Railroads 2006.

Well guys, I'm going to get going, I've got other things to do yet.

    Noah
