  • Yeah, it's a coaling tower. There are two left along the former C&NW in Illinois, one at Nelson, and the other at Dekalb, about 60 miles apart. It's really nice when we have the steam specials come through, like 844 and the Challenger.

  • Wesley, Nice shot!! There's a coaling tower like that in Wisconsin on the Adams line, at I think Clyman Junction, but I've yet to catch a train passing under one, since there are like only four trains a day, and most of them at night.

I want some decals of that gaffitti, it's awesome!!

In and out fast once again, been working on stuff for the module and layout quite a bit today. I did some spray painting on that Walthers Turntable that will be going into the Module, and I've got to finish up the three pine trees I started. So I'm going to get going, I'll see you guys later.

  • I just go back from the prototype modelrs convention, and our group decieded that instead of chasing the steamer we would build kits and work on models, which is fine w/ me , which brings me to a funny story!!!!

Yesterday was a beatifully sunny day, and 2 of my dads friends wanted to ditch the seminar and go railfanning and they took me with, so I got AWESONME shots, I am uploading them to railpictures now..

    Wesley- AWESOME SHOT

Well, the convention was fun but its good to be back, I am now off to bild kits,

    see everyone later..
  • I wasn't being sarcastic, I actually love that graffitti.

  • Well, I didn't go railfanning...again.....*sigh*
I would like to see that in a decal, so much better than the weird letters that are the norm.

  • I join your sadness on the last three CNW engines. I saw a repatched one the other day that still had the green lightning stripes as DP on a coal train, and just now read about the runthrough they had in April (* curses under breath*) ! I grew up with those C44-9Ws, as sad as it may sound...those were my steam engines!

  • Oh, I feel for you. I've never seen the CNW, and I would have really liked to. The only CNW engines I've seen were alrealy in **** yellow, SD40-2s in Rochelle.
Oh CNW, I pine for you....

Hey guys, happy halloween, although I will not be trickertreating --

I too miss the CNW- the Cheap and Nothing Wasted- hehe [:D] They were a grerat road.

You guys know of Murphy's law of railfannnig right?? here is my take..

-The day you have planned to go railfanning on, it is cloudy and or raining ( or hailing) and you see all the coolest equipment..
-If it is somehow sunny the day you do go railfanning, your camera will have a total meltdown and you will see great stuff.
-If you do go railfanning and your camera works and it is sunny you will see no trains.
-The next monday when you are in school it will be perfectly sunny and you wil hear trains from miles around.

There is the worst case scenario, although I dobut it happens to you guys (or does it?)

Well, last weekend I cheated those laws. On staurday, I managed to sneak out of a convention with some friends and go trailfannig and it was sunny / great trains.

On sunday, on our way to a freinds haus to build model trains, I caught 2 of my fasvorite engines, a pair of UP SD90s on the heqd of a coal train, and I actully had my camera!!!

So, whats new with you all???
  • Oh i almost forgot, I put MU cables on my KATO SD40-2, and they look great!!![^]
