  • Guid Morn, Mike,
If ye think tha' meself ist wear'en the kilt aroond track tracks, etc. ye are amite fey. Meself wears troose or ast ye would say cargo pants, sae tha' meself can carry extra film an' alsae meself wears a vest tae carry extra magazines an' lenses. E'en though meself shows ID meself still hast trouble wi' the RR police an' the locals.

I just read the Vol. 26 recap, one thing which Erik overlooked (or just ignored), but let Mike get away with... was this caption under Mike's UP shot:

"If this photo looks familiar, it's because it was my entry for the Volume 21 edition of Trackside with Mike and Erik. "

It seemed amusing to me if no one else. [:)] Mike seems to be very set on the name change.[:D]

Ssshhhhhhhhh! I do that all the time. Bergie catches most of 'em, but occasionally one will slip through. Don't tell him, okay?

First - I thought the photo o' the Amtrack train tae be far better than the static one (I canna rember which wast which) due tae the fact tha' it shows speed an' action tae which meself does wi' waterfall photos (usually shot at 1/8th o' a secound or slower).
Now for the question - How dae ye lads get tae photograph the tarins? Here in Memphis, TN if we stop alang syde a set o' tracks or try tae shoot frae an o'erpass we get chased aff by the RR police or the local PD and /or the Sheriff's Dept. Some o' us hae been threatened with arrest, confiscation o' film an' camera. Meself canna afford tae lose either one ast I dae freelance photography tae suppliment my SS money (my age ist 65).

    Mac,

Aye, dinna yae know that wearin a kilt around railroad property is a (insert "Glasgow Comma" here) safety violation? [:)]

    Best,
    Mike

  • Well, I usually vote for Erik's pics, but Mike's got mine this week. I think that abstract artwaork in the foreground kinda annoys and distracts, but it nicely frames the train. Erik's picture is pretty good, and I would've voted for it had there been a little less speed blur than he got. I think that's what mainly killed it.
  • Strange choices this week! Ipicked Mikes photo because I'm not an Amtrak personand I like CN. I think that Mikes photo turned out okay even though it almost qualified for a "find the train" photo.
Yes we call it the Dinky. Why? Well cause it's dinky! Proud to be the official train geek of Princeton University!
  • LOOK AT BOTEM OF THIS THING.

Not voting. IMHO, both shots stink!

Did you read the column, or just vote? The conditions stunk even more! That's the point... we were try to make the best of a bad situation. We know these aren't calendar shots, but thanks for reminding us.
