Trackside with Erik and Mike, Vol. 25: February 21, 2005

I also liked photo #1. Also Bergie nice shot of the WC SD45 at Sussex switching the Quad-Graphics plant. For some reason I have a very similar shot to that one. I'm glad things worked out for us to head out trackside in Friday afternoon. I also got some nice shots from the super secret place.

We will have to get together again when it is "warmer".

Picture #1 is great. At first glance, I was ready to vote. However, on further inspection, the clutter to the right hand side (line pole, building) was just too distracting. Maybe some Photoshop editing would help?

Picture # 2 is good, but as others have stated, somewhat plain. The break in the clouds almost looks like the sky is lit by the headlight. Nice touch!

I wanted to vote for #1, but ended up voting for #2. Close!

Number 1 was very dramatic but I have never seen six locos on the head end especially
UPs so I chose number 2. I live just east of Toronto Canada in the middle of 3 CN/CP main lines so most of my sightings are these two Roads with the odd BN thrown in. Love all your photos guys and Trains magazine.

I like Uncle Pete showing all that muscle but by now I'm tired of all that frozen white stuff. Had more of it this morning. The Soo bending through the trees could have used a bit lighter exposure but the effect was enough to warm me up.

Glint light is so overrated....just go out, face directly into the sun, click the shutter! Even though I hate the UP, gotta vote for #2.

#2 got my vote. #1 was to dark for my liking. They were both good shots, but #1 was to hard to see. I liked the shot of the UP. Some say it is to boring as it apears to be to regular. I also was dimayed that some of the comments leaned to certain railroads.

Photo #1 was tricky lighting, congratulations, the icing on the cake is the fact that you got "Soo Line" to show up so well in the shadows.

No.1 - a dramatic shot. No.2 - a peaceful picture . Today I had a lot of action and my mood is for a peaceful evening. Today I choose No.2.

Number 1. Action, great lighting, good location (curves always make for a good pic),
high lighted rails. you can just feel that Soo power coming at you.

Send the snow pic too UP for next years calendar.

Almost a tie, but I voted for number one. I liked the mood of the shot enhanced by the reflected light, and the loco lights show up really well. I had to go back several times to look at the picture. #2 was good; I like the snow shot. I'm an Easterner at heart though, and the mood of #1 reminded me of the Erie, a favorite.

I assume number 1 is Erik's and 2 is Mike's...tough decision, but I chose number 1. Even though the lighting isn't as great, it is a nice shot of a train coming around the curve with traditional power and the exhaust plume coming from the stacks, and it looks better to me.

Thanks, Pastor Pete. I appreciate that.

I went to the doctor yesterday and everything's healing nicely (skin grows remarkably fast). I now just have regular band-aids on my hands, which greatly improves mobility. Hopefully everything will be back to normal in two or three weeks... just in time for early-season golf to start. [:)]
