I was hopeing that Erik and Mike would take it easy this week after the holidays yea.[(-D]
Ok, Mike (you the man) two trains at the same time that is, was good timing almost better than a photo shoot. Erik a good no great night shot but Mik's two trains at the same time. [yeah]
this could be a tie vote week[?]

As much as I dislike UP, I had to go with Mike's shot. There is just something about it that I like.

Both shots were great, however I went with Mike's shot this week. Mainly for a reason Mike likes it, a very nice going away shot. And that old saw blade logo doesn't hurt! Nice light too.

Mike you got the entire sceen spot on, well done. Erik, the angle on locomotive is perfect but the lighting was just not there, sorry I'm spoiled by O Winston Link's night shots.

Mike's shot got my vote this time even though I thought his other shot (the UP intermodular one) was even better. I will almost always vote for a shot that shows more of railroading than just the locomotive(s). Unless the locomotives are running light, they are there to move freight and thus I like to see shots that show the railroad at work - locomotives and their consists. Erik, I am looking forward to some of those freight roster shots that you saved to the new 512 MB compact flash card. Hope you both and the readers of this forum have a healthy, happy, and successful 2005 and may all of your pictures turn out to be keepers!

I voted for Mike. First I like UP since UP is rare around Edmonton. Also liked two trains in one photo.

Sorry Mike, although I love your shot, even with a third UP train*** in the remaining (free) track, Erik's picture would have gotten my vote!

*** ... unless the third train were led by a Big Boy!...

Ok, well now this is my first time to beable to do this. I like both of them but I just had to go with the night shot with snow. It realy looks cool. How the lights of the first loco. reflecting off the snow helps light up the 2nd unit. Both shots are good.

Mike's photo gets my vote. Very pleasant lighting, two trains and the semiphore arms hanging down. Great location and timing to get all these elements.

Good morning and Happy new year to all, health, happiness and great photos.

This time it is Eric's photo. I love snow, I love snow in the dark and thus this picture is my favorite. I just wi***hat he had taken to picture such a way in order to capture the entire lenght of the train. Mike's photo is nice, but there is a problem. Since there are two trains why he choose to capture the waiting train against the sun. It woud have been better to capture a part of the waiting train and the other one comming. Anyway, this is my opinion. Until next time take care every one

Happy New Year Everyone!
I voted for Mike's shot. Hard to decide, I had voted for Erik the first time this engine was pictured. Two thoughts took my vote to Mike. First, it's indeed a nicely illuminated meet. That's the one I'd choose to ornate my living room as a framed picture. And two, I was sad to see the same engine Erik had already entered once.

Both are nice shots anyways!

A new year and you guys are not making it any easier. Both pix were great! The lighting of the meet was superb; however I went with Erik's. The framing of the Dash-8 just seemed to be just right. The last time I voted for Mike's but this time the Dash-8 just seems to stand out and say 'Hi; I'm here to play in the snow.' Keep up the great work you two. Happy New Year to everyone and say prayers for our troops. Remember they didn't get to come home and spend time with their loved ones over the holidays.
