lionel 3359 and ucs?
Posted by danl on Thursday, November 27, 2014 9:42 PM

hi everyone. i have a question regarding the dual dump car. how do i get it to operate with the remote control track? i know that's not how it was designed to be used, but i have seen videos on youtube of people using them that way. and also, how does that car actually work? do both shoes have to be contacting the extra rails? any help would be great.

Suggest you re post in the Classic Toy Trains Forum.   The are the people who know.

I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.

I don't have a leg to stand on.

You can use the 3359 on a strategically placed UCS by using the "uncouple" button instead of the "unload" button.

Only one shoe has to be on a control rail for it to activate. Study this diagram for the pictorial wiring diagram:

The twin bin dump car is a bit of a strnge beast. It requires you to pulse the uncouple button to dump the car in a series of steps. It's a long car but only one of the two shoes needs to be on an uncouple blade of a UCS as the circuit returns through the wheels and outer rails.
