Trains.com Index of Magazines

  • CAN WE GET A NEW POLL? [zzz]
  • hi
  • I have used it a few times and when ever looking for a specific article in my collection of magazines or looking for articles on specific subects it is great!!!!! It was a great help to me and if I couldn't find the specific magizine in my collection if it were a Kalmbach magazine it was published in I could easily order it if in stock. good resource and I realize it took a great amount of time to put together and yes I would like to see the articles when searching but I realize that thew time to scan them in, and the memory it would take up would be enormous.
We should be happy to have all of the resourses we do at the great cost we have now, FREE!
  • I never knew it existed either. Now that I know, you bet I'll use it!!!

    Thank you!!!

  • Never knew it was there.
  • I use it constantly. I used it when it was Accurail. I used it when it was on floppy (MITE). I used it when it was available only as a book! I've got a full set of magazines. Many clubs have full sets. Somebody offers a reprint service if those two options aren't working for you.
  • Have used it on odd occassions, but as time is rather limited, I do not use it that much [:(].
Being able to pay for downloading articles would be good. Does Kalmbach use PayPal[?] Some people do not have credit cards and do NOT want one.
Attached to a subscription if one exists would be another way of settling the payment of fees for downloading articles.

  • ...But now that I know it exists, I'll make judicious use of it.
  • I love the magazine index. It's the ONLY reason I ever go to trains.com.

I use it... but sometimes it is tough to get the right combination of search words that get a hit. At times I remember a specific article, but not the month or year... and it is frustrating when using the index I can not pull it up. Sometimes the keywords (when I finally find the article) are surprising to me.

I've been using the index ever since I joined this website, it is pretty handy.
It was started privately, not by Kalmbach originally, and credit should go to the individual who took on such a massive compilation task.
I do agree with MononFan that it's sometimes tough to find the 'right' keywords.
