My family and I volunteer at a the Pine Creek Railroad here in NJ almost every weekend throughout the year but that doesn't stop us from experiencing other railroads. We will be visiting Strasburg Railroad in PA over summer. A group of us from Pine Creek will be converging on Cass Scenic Railroad in August. We will also be going to Cooperstown NY and plan to visit them as well. Visited all RR's in CO in 2002 as well as Cumbres and Toltec had a great time will definitly go back. We also participate in another venue called Motorcars (aka Speeders) and will be visiting various RR's during the year. So you can say that we are truly Railfans for sure LOL. Have a great summer see ya down the tracks.

I'm stuck to local railroading, though being that they are reviving this line by the end of summer, that will still be good for me. I wish I knew where the track gangs would be working each of these days so I could take pictures. Does anybody know how to find this stuff out? I'd appreciate that. Anyways, that's all the railroading I can do, as due to gas prices, it's too expensive to travel to do any other railroading.

My husband and I are avid railfans. We are fortunate to live in a chicago suburb and have all the train yards and main rail lines either right where we live or in close driving range. Our favorite most frequented spot is the Rochelle Railroad Park. We visit there 2-3 times a month. Our 12 year old daughter really enjoys "train chasing", too. We will be going to California next week and my husband already has the list ready of all the different museums and railway spots to visit. When we return, the next place to visit (again) is the Union Railway Museum and then down to St. Louis for the museum there! Lots of train action this summer.

For a real treat, plan to ride the Secret City Scenic Excursion Train in Oak Ridge, TN. It is opperated by the Southern Appalachia Railway Museum. It is the only excursion train where you can ride through a former Uranium processing plant and pretty rural sites. All while riding onboard authentically restored Southern (Central of Georgia) Railway passengers cars!
I suggest visiting Tennessee Valley, Three River Rambler, and Secret City Scenic for a fun weekend trip.

I am an engineer for the BLuegrass Railroad Museum in Versailles, Ky. In the very near future Norfolf & Western #675, a GP-9 will be making its home here. She has been restored and painted in N&W colors. Hope to see some of our railfans there.
