Here's what i been seeing on the new london turn lately
yes with 2 engines, cn has never done this in the past
Sweet pix their Brent
Yes, Brent, that is legal. The NORAC rulebook (used in the Northeast, but the rules apply elsewhere) states on page 20 that "If one of a pair of auxiliary lights fail en route, the train may continue at Normal Speed, but the defective auxiliary light must be repaired no later than the next calendar day inspection.
If all auxiliary lights fail en route, the train must not exceed 20 MPH over public grade crossings, and the auxiliary light(s) must be repaired at the next forward repair point."
If you lose all headlights, then you must turn on all external engine lights (except red strobe), notify the Dispatcher, ring the bell continuously, sound the horn frequently, cross public crossings prepared to stop and no faster than 20 MPH --- UNLESS --- you have operable auxiliary lights. (I think they should have put that part at the beginning!)
Finnaly my rochelle trip, since theres so many pics i wont have any captions.
this got me by suprise while visiting the gift shop
is this legal?
Well I dont have pics to share, but I have news no less.
I just bought a ticket to ride the 4449 Fall Colors excursion!
I'm riding the train on Sunday October 11th. The ticket just came in the mail today!
Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.

O490 is coming into the small town of weyauwega, they will be going into the siding, they are directed to dump here in town then elsewhere along the line but the herzog operator has to set the train up.
about a hour later 198 shows up
then another hour they have to back up & get off the siding then down the main to dump

now they clear out of town, they move onto anton where they will get a new crew & jump on 301
heres the 301
then i wasnt prepared cuz i was gonna head home for lunch before football practice then the 119 comes, i took this through the window
i have 4 more trips yet to post. 1 from rochelle & 1 from last week & 1 from yesterday
A fairly good week this week, as my streak of bad luck finally ended(rather ironic that it did, given what was shot).
First up, on a quick pass by the BNSF facility, I spot a non-RC SD40-2, one of the first I've seen in a long time.
Next up, I shot down to Saunders and Koppers Junction, not finding anything. As I cruise into the South Range area, I see a train, and surmise that it's the Transfer heading for Itasca Yard. After a quick chase, I head down to the yard just in time to find a J consist.
659 is in the lead.
And trailing is EVIL!!!
I'll continue with my trip reports tonight, I went down to Monticello Railway Museum to see the Leviathan and the NS Fs Saturday, then IRM Sunday for Museum Showcase Weekend. Lots of photos and lots of quality power to be had recently!
I found this video clip on my hard drive today! It has some pretty awesome lighting, and MBTA P557 is really going!
Last light at Worcester, MA (2/19/09)
Hopefully my luck changes sometime soon, as taking an hour or so out of every Wednesday to find nothing is getting real old. Anyway, here's the recent stuff:
Finding some down time in the BNSF engine area is an ES44DC, 7339
A few days later, I happened upon this rather weary looking Executive SD70MAC. She's seen better days.
Next, I come upon a great consist of three GE locomotives(never thought I'd say that). Going right to left, you've got BNSF Dash 9 1081 in H1 paint, in the middle you've got Dash 9 4720 in H2 paint, and at the rear, there's ES44DC 7415 in H3 paint.
Well, remember that while the Worcester Main (of Pan Am) is hilly and would need at least a single AC6000CW, Q427 still has to go over the Berkshires on the old B&A to get to Selkirk!
Q426 and Q427 are typically a half-mile long or shorter, but the Berkshires are tough. And the AC6000CWs typically hang around the Boston & Albany because of the Berkshires. Their EMD predecessors were the SD80MACs, and even in the steam era, the B&A had the biggest locos the NYC could throw at it.
Right now Q426 / Q427 typically rates a pair of ES44AC units. The AC6000CWs do make appearances, but usually not in pairs anymore. Those days were before the Evolution Series came along. Now the pairs of AC60s run trains from Springfield to Selkirk, and often pitch in in Worcester yard shoving trains down to the Providence & Worcester yard for interchange.
TrainManTya pair of AC6000CW units.
Lemme guess, only one is online at a time. That way, if one dies, they have a backup!

ns3010TrainManTy AYSE (Pan Am Railways train from Ayer, MA, to Selkirk, NY, as CSX Q427 between Barbers Jct, MA, and Selkirk) broke today! *snip* Because it had GEs! If it was EMD powered, it would've had no problem!I really like how the light comes through the clouds in the second photo

Ha! I actually don't remember the last time I've seen anything but GEs on that train...it's often the home of a pair of AC6000CW units.
I like the sky too - I had to shoot an HDR photo (first I've ever taken with a point-and-shoot! ) to get both the sky and train properly exposed.
