  • UP 9805 came through last night. too late for me to catch it. i'll probably go after it tomorrow night. could be something trailing behind it that's worth seeing after all

Ya im still in the dark ages too, the camera i want to get in digital is over1,000 my EOS 35mm will do fine for now.

Pfft, EOS? You don't understand...I'm stuck with crummy lenses, and I can't go out and buy a 70-200 f/2.8L and expect it to fit!

Anyway, here are the 400 shots. 100 will be coming at a later date, ETA unkown. So sorry about the quality..

I have the exact same camera. It does take some nice pictures. I'm pretty sure it's the one your talking about. 7.1MP with a 12x Optical zoom?

  • i've been killing to get that camra i'm still saveing... z16 or something right?
What do you call a freight train full of bubble gum? A chew chew train! :] T.R. quote: "A man who has never gone to school may steal from a freight car; but if he has a university education, he may steal the whole railroad." visit: http://s149.photobucket.com/albums/s74/bighead98565/
  • the Z712 i assume everyone is talking about & that is the camera i dream of having right now & sure could have used it today.

well today was a half day of school & i had to go to neenah this afternnon to the ortho & on my way i heard the dfect detactor go off a few miles away & this case it was bad. the thing said something with a hot axle?  then when we went over the bridge sure enough it went under us & i went down the side rd & got it then the dispatcher calls the train then the train had to sit on the main on anton siding.  heres a pic of it going over school rd & also had 2 New 44DC's on it.

few mins later another train pulls into the siding have no clue on the id( guessing 119)  but it had a IC SD70 trailing & i couldnt stick around anylonger to wait for it.  this is prolly the crapiest shot ever since i had to digital zoom.....

Now come to see it looks like we had another south bound train that had to wait  it was 416 usually 416 has power on both ends but since cn is so power short they been running thr power around the train. i also did a bad thing by going to a private crossing to get this shot well it was somones driveway & the sign was at he crossing & i didnt go pass the sign

     now in neenah

IC 6016 is sitting with L522 & waiting for clearnce from the 2 trains from anton & another north behind it. this usually runs with 2 engines instead of 1

now i go to the south endo f neenah since their was a north & also 342 which i saw earlier rolled by. thinkin about sending to rp & see how they like it.

    heres the north train 411

well after my appt i went back to the yard & their was WC 3006 but 411 was taking off & it  blocked it & it never came out when the train passed so i headed out  & on my way out i see a north train commin by now this is a good/bad shot it had IC 3120 leading & idk how many other cn engines & WC 1562. very blurred

& thats how i ended today.

  • Well, today I went over to the old Relco (RLCX) shops in Minooka and what was sitting there wasn't anything you would expect, it was the CB&Q 9903, the Mark Twain Zephyr, one of the sisters to the one at the museum of science and industry. It was a little beat up but still quite a sight. Here is a photo of it. It is on a flatcar. The trucks left a few days ago heading to Granite City, IL where the trainset will head next.

  • I have heard the Mark Twain Zephyr is going to Granite City, IL near St. Louis to be displayed in a park. It is planned to at least restore it outside. I've heard they want excursions on a loop track out of Granite City, so I;m wondering if they will use this train.

  • Hehe! Matt, I love that engine. Saw that thing earlier this year!

    http://wctransfer.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=899410

You had much better lighting though! And looking at the history, its actually ex Cotten Belt! I love this NRE invasion, I just got an ex GATX Nee MILW SD40-2 yesterday, so now all I need to nab is one of the SD45-2s and the SD50s that the CP has.

Also, yesterday I saw the NREX 2009 *a Genset* come in on the WC transfer with...

    IC 1037,WC 3026*map unit*,IC 6010, and the NREX 2009. What a consist huh?

  • I hear those 2000s are really getting around!

I didn't get good light the first time I saw it, though. Which, I suppose, was a blessing. I could concentrate on the scream of 52 cylinders of 645 power in notch 8 instead of photos!

Of course, as you might be able to tell, when it was sunny there was no crew.

Cab shots coming up Wink [;)]

Sad how much snow we have, isn't it? It snowed an inch or so on Boxing day, and the last time it snowed before that was in November! There's an inch at most in shaded places, but...ugh. Back to the trains.

Here's a teaser print. The seat was a classic!

  • NICE! I've seen an Ex SP tunnel motor, but never that close! Boy and like Max said, if the crew came. You would of been dead. lol. I like the shots.

BTW it looks to me with the nose shot that it was once a L window on the engineers side. But had gotten replaced later on.
