Favorite EMD Locomotive

I voted for the F7, although the SD80MAC was left out of the poll. I realize that the 80 was an interim design between the 70 and the 90, and that EMD was only making them until they could get the 90 online.

I've only seen one SD80MAC up close and personal - it was in Conrail blue, passing eastbound through Sidney, Ohio. I was probably 40 feet from the locomotive when it went by.

I've got a Kato model of an NS SD80MAC, too bad all my curves are too tight for it.

It's a three way tie between the FP45, the GP40X, and the SD75.

I love the SD45 because they really are mumonic (I might of not spelled that right!) devices for me, espeically when they are in Wsconsin Central Paint and are equipped with A#-tuned K3LA horns. They always will bring up memories of the Prairie Crossing Station and when the CN line through Grayslake was under Wisconsin Central control.

Yes the emd sd40-2 is still a very good locomotive but today's new power i think that the emd SD70MAC just puts the word over kill on the SD40-2 of today.on BNSF's crawford hill today remarkable only 2 SD70MAC's compaired to 5 SD40-2 locomotives is a great improvement.i still love the SD40-2's but the SD70MAC is hear to stay.

I would have to say my favorite is the GP35, almost likes the ones the Ann Arbor railroad used in the 1960s and 70s. I also like the SD40-2 which is a very cool engine too.

"The Diesel," the good old SD40-2. Nothing else on the rails seemed to compare from an esthetic quality, plus the smooth sound of "pure power" that eminated from them. I'd also toss in the GP-7. Beverly Yard (CNW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa) used to always have a "gaggle of geeps."
