ALCO Builders Plate question

  •  A friend purchased an ALCO builders plate numbered 77484.  It is a ALCO and GE plate and I was wondering where we could find out what locomotive type it was on in April 1950.

Anyone know where we look up the archives for this plate.

    Thank you

  • It appears that it is the builders plate for L&N 74, an Alco S3.
