Hello All,

Given the fact that November is model railraod month has gotten me thinking about ways to share the hobby. While the World's Greatest Hobby campaign is a good start in the badly needed publicity department, I think there is more we can do to share the hobby.

In the past I have set up a model train exhibit at a local museum for a "living history days" to show off the importance of railroading in developing the local area. The kids that came from the schools to attend the event were just as facinated with the trains moving across the scene as they were with the presentation.

I am presently in the process of building a model train display in my local Chamber of Commerce building which is housed in the former Railroad Depot. When complete it will depict the CNW in the Lander WY area. I leave business cards with the people at the Chamber of Commerce so that if anyone has any questions they can contact me.

I am also gearing up due to repeated demands from other people in my community to build a traveling christmas model train exhibit that can be set up at any number of willing stores and run for the enjoyment and education of the public. I plan for two organizations that I have founded (The Western Railway Preservation Foundation, and the Museum of American Model Rairlaoding) to cooperate with my business (Mitich Rail Limited) to help educate the public, as well as provide quality begginners trains for those who desire them.

These were thoughts I have come up with and was wondering if anyone else was doing anything similar.

James R.
