I am upgrading my old collection of rolling stock, and have purchased some of Atlas's newer 50/55 ton open double hoppers. These cars are perfect for my railroad, but I also own a substantial number of the older 55 ton hoppers that were marketed by the likes of Model Power, Bachmann, etc. Just looking at them casually, they appear to be models of the same type of hopper, yet the old ones are MUCH larger, as if they are out of scale. Is this the case, or is there a larger prototype for the old Model Power twin hoppers? Would it be outrageous to just label them as fictional home-road 65 ton twin hoppers?
